Just a quick update and a peek at my WIP.

A few weeks ago I went through my gallery looking through pictures and realizing that what I was really proud of 2 years ago I no longer like. That is I like the idea or even the pose but no longer the execution.

So I decided to re-do another old picture.

In this, I decided I liked the pose but I remember I had a lot of trouble sorting the the anatomy back then. My original idea of having him tip his hat to the viewer never worked the way I imagined it in my mind.
So I tried again - I used the same lounging pose but changed the arm.

Also I have a lot more practise doing the face - I am a lot happier with the like-ness in this - although he looks less dangerous. A menacing snarl would have been more fun.

Last... coloring - one can notice some improvement there, too. My skin and lips look neater, the hair is more fluffy and soft and overall I do less sharp edged shadows (at least for a project like this - I love cell shading for other things).

Also I learned to draw/ink on a larger scale / higher resolution to make it easier to get in all the details I want.

All in all not bad for 2 years considering it's a hobby.
