Description

The Descendants part referring to the actual definition of kin of a character, rather than an oc in the live action movies.

This is a character I thought of a good while ago, but never got around to creating out a bio and reference for her. I whole heartily believe Disney's 1997 Hercules is an underrated classic. From this movie spawned a pretty widely fan favorite villain in the form of Hades. Although I'm personally tired of Hades being portrayed as a villain as he is one of the least ruthless and scornful gods in Greek mythology, Disney's Hades is pretty funny and very memorable. I wondered very long ago how things would be if he would to be like every other god and have kids of his own. I never watched Disney's descendants, mostly because I don't much care for live action or how they advertised the trailers, I really like the idea of this type of next gen stuff with the Disney characters. Since designing and working out children for characters is one of my favorite things to do, I thought I'd give this a chance. Meet Thana.

Bio

Name: Thana (The shorthand feminine version of Thanatos, the Greek personification and meaning of “death”)
Alias: Spawn of Hades, Watcher of Death, The Angel of Death, Thanatos
Race: Hellenic
Species: God
Occupation: Thana watches over people shortly before death and leads them towards the path into the underworld. She also feeds and plays with Cerberus.
Powers: As a god, Thana is immortal. She has the ability to walk the mortal world imperceptible, completely unseen by mortal eyes. Like Hades she also can summon and control fire, open cracks into the underworld, summon and manipulate the dead, manifest into fog, and acquire objects from thin air. She also wields a form of geokinesis, a psychokinetic ability to manipulate the earth itself. From causing many varying sizes of earthquakes, to disrupting the foundation of buildings, and even just springing up the ground to place her on a higher level of elevation, Thana can always make sure she has full control of her terrain. She has a fiery temper if pushed enough. One that causes her hair to burst into orange flames and turn her eyes an amber yellow.
Backstory: Hades took his queen in the form of the goddess of spring by the name of Persephone. She shortly birthed a daughter. It was Hades who gave her the name Thana. A shorthanded version of the personification of death called Thanatos, which he and Persephone still call her when talking to her in a serious tone. Thana was given the responsibility of watching over the spirits of the dead, which she proved to handle very well. Living in the underworld with little outside interaction has left Thana a very shy and sheltered girl. Added on with anxiety that mortals would look on her with fear and horror doesn’t give Thana the confidence to leave the underworld very much.

Physical Appearance

Age: She looks 19, but as a god, age has neither affect nor relevance to her.
Eye Color: Blue, however they will turn an amber yellow when she is angry.
Hair color length and style: Mid back in length, blonde with blue streaks; Curly.
Weight and height: Near 130lb, 5'5"
Type of body (build): Slim, slightly wide hips. Lean and kind of pear shape.
Skin tone and type: Pale blue tint.
Shape of face: Slightly wide oval.
Distinguishing marks: Her pointed nose, hair, skin, and the shadowy extensions that cover the bottom of clothing.
Predominant feature: Large eyes.
Additional: Whenever she wants to get around the mortal world, Pain and Panic go along with her shape shifting into jewelry she can wear.

Likes and Dislikes

Favorites/Hobbies: Despite not needing it, Thana likes to eat mortal food. She loves to read and occasionally sings. Thana has snuck into the mortal world many times to view the arts like painting, music, and theater. In her spare time she converses with the spirits of the dead. Her only friends are Hades minions, Pain and Panic, which she does a lot with.
Distastes: Thana hates loud noises, losing control, and feeling useless.
Mode of transport: Usually Thana just walks or travels in smoke, but occasionally will use Hades’s flying horse chariot.

Personality

Habits: Thana has a bad habit of talking to herself, biting her lip, and has a telltale sign of lying or nervousness by rubbing her hand on something. Like her arm, neck or other hand.
Greatest Strength: She is very good at watching from afar, learning from her surroundings, and coming up with solutions.
Greatest Weakness: Thana is very shy. So much so it’s hard for her to actually communicate with those she’s not already familiar with. She is still very young and therefor a little naïve. She’s not as in tune with the ways of manipulation and deal making as Hades and someone could fairly easily trick her into benefiting them.
Biggest Vulnerability: Despite having a lot of power of a god, Thana is constantly hesitating and second guessing herself in fear she’ll unleash power she can’t control. A clever adversary could very much use her lack of confidence against her. Not only that, but she fears humanity to a great extent. Interacting with spirits is easy, but living people isn’t. People can be cruel and Thana constantly worries the people of the mortal world will view her as a great evil and a creature to avoid and despise.

Family:

{Mother} Persephone: Thana and Persephone get along as any other mother and daughter would. Her mother will always be that shoulder to cry on when she needs it. Thana admires her mother as the ultimate goddess.
{Father} Hades: is defiantly someone Thana looks up to. He’s very good at his work, however sometimes she can’t help but feel it practically consumes him. While Hades has never and never will disregard his daughter, the time the two interact is limited.

Other – Gods, Demi gods, and mortals
(Since there are over 20 gods in relation to Zeus and he is pretty much the father to about a dozen or so of them, this is a very simplified version going with Disney restrictions.)

Greek God families get really, really complicated. Also I have never seen Hercules the animated series, so the personality of some of these gods and goddess are not really know. Also I know I missed a bunch, but like I said. It gets really complicated.

{Aunts and Uncles} Zeus/Hera: Unlike many of the other gods, Zeus and Hera are much more forgiving and kind hearted. They have accepted Thana as a niece with open arms. Thana in return is very happy with the two, she loves them both and the time they spend with her.
Poseidon/Amphitrite: Amphitrite is very loving and caring and had no issue seeing Thana as a niece, especially when she gets along so well with her son, Triton. It took some convincing from her, but Poseidon eventually agreed to tolerate her, as long as she didn’t do anything to disrupt his power over the sea.
Hestia: A very perky goddess, she has not associated much with Thana. She doesn’t thrill off the idea of Hades having a child, however she would never go out of her way to harm her.
{Grandparents} Demeter (Who may also be an aunt?): Demeter is the mother of Persephone, and while she may despise the man that took her daughter, she doesn’t take that out on Thana. She loves her granddaughter and does her best to make sure she’s happy.
{Cousins} Hercules and Megara: Hercules goodhearted nature has led him to see the neutral, even good in Thana. Meg however is very skeptical of her. Always keeping her guard up. She doesn’t trust her.
Aphrodite, Apollo, Hermes, Triton, Otus (Possibly Athena, Artemis, Dionysus, Hephaestus, Ares): Many of the other gods simply avoid Thana. Not so much hate her, just barely tolerate her. Although they do keep an eye out, prepared to act if need be. With the exception of Triton, who seems to get along well with Thana. Almost a genuine friendship.
