A reoccurring character I've had in my dreams for I don't even know how long. His name is Magnus, but I've always called him Max. Where he lives, single people are dozens of miles apart. The world was full at one point, but not anymore. Cars sit untouched, buildings empty in various states of decay. Max spends days building safe houses, but only stays in them for so long before moving on. He builds them so other people can use the shelter, and just because he likes to build. He packs light, often using what he can find on the spot to get by. In the rare occasion he meets others, he shares whatever he can. Max always has a spare blanket. He can't fix things, but he can make it hurt less or stand close while whatever darkness passes.

He isn't a talker, doesn't keep himself clean most of the time, and never makes eye contact (Probably due to living in isolation.) He likes swimming in lakes and rivers, prefers the quiet. He has a brother called Kay, and maybe once had a female friend named Ginger, but I haven't seen them in so long I wonder if they still exist.

I hadn't seen Max in a few years until recently. It's crazy to see a friend after a gap like that. Like, your friend is a half-foot taller, five years older, gave himself a questionable haircut, has a kid now, but he is still doing the same schtick he had been since the last time you were together. It's comforting. Hope to see him again soon.
