Description

The visual is a fucking mess, but it's late and I didn't want to ink and color all of that.

Name: Brigitte Amalie Bondevik, younger sister of Lukas Bondevik, and the personification of the capital city, Oslo.

Birthday: May 17 (Norwegian constitution day)

Age (Human): 21

Star sign: Taurus

Height: 5’ 2”

Weight: 117 lbs

Physical appearance (more in depth): Unlike her normal native counterparts, Brigitte is rather short for a Norwegian girl, which could be due to the Saami population of Norway (though they are more focused near the Northern part of the country). She’s got similar hair and facial features and light complexion to her brother, though her hair is on the lighter side, and is quite a bit longer than his. Her bangs sweep to the right, and strands on either side cascade the longest that come down to her chest. Her eyes are a shade of dark blue and are often framed by a pair of glasses (unless she actually has the want or need to wear contact lenses).

Personality: Brigitte is one to not let her emotions flow properly, usually keeping the negatives to herself and not telling anyone of her internal struggles. Feisty to the core, much like her older brother, she has a twisted and wry sense of humor that only people in her immediate family would understand. Brigitte often times doesn’t back away from a challenge, even if she knows she has a small chance of winning, which could be the cause of her eventual downfall. With that stubbornness, she can also be very adamant when wanting to help friends/loved ones that need it, even if they don’t necessarily want it. Due to the modern attitude of her city, Brigitte is often somewhat haughty, and really doesn’t like getting her hands dirty when she doesn’t have to. This does often get addressed with the nickname “Prinsesse” when she’s being, well, a princess.

Background:

(Capital/Country background): Brigitte became the capital city of Oslo when she was founded by King Harald Hardråde in 1049, despite possible previous settlements. As a small child, the years after her founding were riddled with violence and overtaking, her city being left in shambles a number of times. After Denmark no longer had reign over Norway as a country, she was renamed Christiania in 1814 as a tribute to King Christian IV whom of which had the city rebuilt after its destruction. In 1878 she was renamed once again as Kristiania (due to a spelling reform because Norwegian is an easier to learn version of Danish) until 1925 when Oslo, her original name, was re-established. Spring of 1940, only a year after World War II began, took a turn for the worse as Germany began its occupation despite the country being neutral. While the government officials fled the country in an act of exile, the sibling personifications did their best to keep their people as safe as possible, Brigitte opting to stay with the royal family and government officials in London, England after a Nazi supporting puppet government was set up in place of the Norwegian government until Norway’s liberation on May 8th, 1945. After the reconstruction period, Norway’s economy began to build itself up again, Brigitte’s city soon became a trade and economic hub for the nation, and is among one of the more expensive cities to live in due to modernization.

(Human background): Being the middle child of three, Brigitte was the child that went unnoticed by her parents. That being said, her parent’s untimely death affected her more than she let the other two know. Being kin to an overprotective asshat (Lukas) and a moody teenager learning how to deal with his problems (Emil), growing up was an interesting experience. The siblings with a temperament lived with family friends until they were old enough to live on their own, which meant living with an overzealous-about-himself Dane who didn’t have boundaries. Brigitte lived with a lot of men, even sharing a room with Emil until Mathias left the nest to be an engineer or something, yet still managed to keep an almost “princess” like attitude despite all of the male influence in her life. When she was able to, Brigitte moved in with Lukas in Oslo while going to school there, splitting rent with him while they both worked in their respective jobs and had their respective lives. She ultimately moved out after she was able to save up enough money to afford an apartment not too far off from her brother, where she now currently works in a local bookstore.

Trivia:

-She wears glasses unlike the rest of her family, most likely having pretty bad eyesight from all of the destruction caused to her city when she was young.

-There’s a burn scar on her lower back that was acquired in her earlier years of being a capital.

-She has a cream colored Norwegian Forest cat named Butter because Lukas wasn’t creative enough.

-Brig likes to ski and figure skate, though she doesn’t do it as often as she would like.

-She’s also a huge nerd and reads mystery/crime short stories because that seems to be a popular thing over in Norway.

-Alongside being fluent in Norwegian, she’s also fluent in Danish, Icelandic, and Saami, though her Saami is a bit rusty because up until the 80’s, Saami culture was frowned upon and the language banned in most places, much like every other predominantly white group of people and their indigenous people. She feels somewhat sympathetic toward them.

-Brigitte has looked up to her older brother since she could remember, which in turn has affected how she acts, but it does not define her as a person.

-She has an affinity for dragons and other large mythical creatures, though is not as into magic like her older brother.

-Despite being the middle child of the Norwegian-Icelandic siblings, she is the oldest in terms of the Northern European capitals with being founded in 1049 AD, followed by Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, and finally, Reykjavik.

-Brigitte’s sense of fashion is often what most people refers to as “hipster”, though most of the time she can be caught wearing a high waisted skirt (with warm leggings underneath) or skinny jeans, button up, a pair of snow boots (or oxfords during the summer months), and an oversized kofte (basically a Norwegian cardigan with a nice pattern) she most likely stole from her brother.

Well... It really depends on the AU. I mean, it doesn't really matter anyway, most of this fandom is headcannon anyway, so there's no real reason to call me out. Cannonly they're thousands (except for certain characters such as America or Sealand) of years old. And also, I would like to know why that was the only thing you decided to comment on when this is an OC character sheet? Sorry if I seem kinda butthurt about it but seriously.

Well, your OC is great, it's hard to come across Nation or any other type of OC that has a solid backstory, as well as all the other information and the OC's design. I wasnt really trying to call you out, I was just stating my Opinion and what most people say, Yeah, most of the nations are thousands of years old (Besides the newer nations), this is true, but this is what fandoms are for, for the fans of the fandom to state what they think is right, and they should be ready to defend their own opinion, as well as just enjoy the fandom they watch, draw art for and write fanfics for. People are allowed to have opinions and are able to state what they think, in their own minds, what is correct.

I do understand that. I understand that the fandom is where ideas and headcannons can be accepted or unaccepted, or discussed over or whatever. But, the comment you made initially didn't really make much sense in the fact that it didn't really need to be said, nor did it sound like an opinion, really. I went back to see why you would make a comment about Iceland's age, when all I said was (in the human back story) that he was a younger brother to both Norway and my OC. There was no implying that he wasn't 17. But in a human setting he won't always be forever 17. We aren't pulling an Edward Cullen. Again, I'm sorry to seem so snappy, but that just really kind of irked me a bit. Also I do thank you for the comment on my OC, I don't really get that a lot.
