Description Her name is Jigokudayu, "The Lady from Hell". In Japanese lore, she was a courtesan who experienced enlightenment when she looked into her mirror and saw--instead of her reflection--a skeleton looking back at her. She went on to become a disciple of a 15th-century Zen master named Ikkyu Sojun, also known as the "Holy Madman", known to frequent inns and brothels and to dance in the streets with a skull on a pole.

Of course, I abused my artistic license points here.
