Whomp King and Mario are longtime friends.Just a progress shot of my Whomp, essentially finished but I may still tweak it in some places. The size is mostly based on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Whomps which were bigger than in past games, so I figured he'd make a decent king (the Whomp King in SMG2 is absolutely massive, there's no way he'd appear in that size in a 2D game). All the Whomp King wanted was some thanks for all the hard work they put into building castles, paths and bridges. So what does Mario do? Crushes him! How rude!

If the system was dual-screened like the DS and 3DS it might be possible, but even then they could only display about 3/4 of him at a time. Or alternatively he'd be in the background like Baby Bowser in Yoshi's Island. Or alternatively I'm thinking too much into this.

I think you are just examining all of the possibilities, It sounds like you want him in a 2-D and that is one-step in a positive mind set ^^

Theres alot of king versions of the mario baddies arent there.

That's what I would picture them both saying.

Mario looks a little nervous, hahah. I LOVE this sprite though, neslug, it's very smooth looking. Whomp King looks pretty badass and his expression is fantastic, particularly the way he appears to be leering at Mario beside him, and how you captured the size difference. Mario looks amazing despite how small he is, that's a lot of detail you packed into a relatively small amount of space.

I put Mario there because he fits beside the Whomp without needlessly lengthening the image in any direction. The directions of their sight just came naturally after that, and I believe makes this slightly more lively. Thanks though, I think it's one of my best as well.
