Description Something I did a while ago just before I hit an artblock, don't know what was going through my head when I was drawing this. Mostly dragons and birds. So I don't know, enjoy I guess

Again, something else that isn't finished..

Wooooo, for an unfinished sketch, it's actually SUPER NICE ! The light and the shadows are amazingly done, the atmosphere makes me think of a storm cloud or something, I just love it !

Ahh, thank you so much! It's a shame I could never finish it, I just didn't have the heart for it anymore. Maybe in the future I might do like an improvement meme drawing for it XD

How the hell did you get so much better in such a short time Oo
I'm always amazed at how beautiful all your works are lately.

It really hasn't been a very short time.. And I don't know, I generally try new things all the time. Mostly lightly recently though, when I was painting this, I was imagining how the light from the sun would affect the shadow of the wings or the clouds. Colour played a big part too, alot of my stuff has been very monochromatic or desaturated considering how I've been feeling these past few months, so I wanted something bright, almost 'fluffy' looking

Though like it says in the description, I really had no recollection of painting this when I did, almost as though I was forgetting about it whilst I was still working on it.. Haha, thank you very much! I do appreciate that >w<

Yeah, but IDK, it seems so sudden for some reason Oo (besides other people might try all their lives and wouldn't improve that much!) I see, yeah, it is different from your usual works in that aspect

Haha how's that possible? You kinda have a magic hand! You're welcome. ;D

I guess it comes from my passion for becoming as good as I can. Mainly so I will be able to get a placement at university.. It's so incredibly competitive that if I don't become one of the best then I don't stand any chance of actually getting one <:/

It also comes from the fact that one of my favourite artists have become so high on my chart of 'trying to be the best as', Shilin. I love the way she draws environments, and especially clothing, it's really inspirational. If you don't know who I'm talking about, this is her deviantART:

I guess so, but that admireable in itself. I would never be able to do that. I was interested in studying somethign more artistical in uni as well, but I totally gave up on that because I'm a coward. xD

OH her. I have her in my watch-list. She's totally awesome. I know exactly what you mean by that. Every time I try to copy something by my favourite artists though I fail miserably , so you got that learning-process going for you.

I should thank my dad for that, he was always very determined and stone-set in his decisions and goals. Nah! You shouldn't be scared to do what you feel is best! Especially if it's something you like. I'm doing this now, because I know I may not be in a very good position to do so in the future, especially considering the cost of just college would be outrageous (being over 18 and all), so if I do this early, I stand a better chance of being better prepared for the future in the games industry.

Yeah, she's probably the ultimate in my favourites. I love the way she paints, the way she's mixed realist environments, clothing and shading with anime and semi-realism. I've.. I've never actually copied anything from a favourite artist, I'm really against the whole copying thing, unless of course I am just so stuck that there's no way I'd actually get any better without doing so.

I see, you really should be grateful for that. It's too late for that, because of my character and because I was brought up by very "realistically thinking" parents, but I'm happy you got to do what you wanted. True enough. I never quite understood why colleges in the UK and the US are so horrendously expensive.

Yep, agreed. It's pretty amazing how she pulls that off. I feel the same way about the artist "Yuumei". She's my absolute favourite on here and she's an incredibly talented storyteller too.
Well, I'm not speaking about copying something 100% I guess, but I think most try to imitate certain aspects of their favourite artists' art. I also see no other way to improve otherwise (well except going to artschool, but not everyone can do that)

Well.. Seeing my dad now it's hard to go by that sort of statement. He never supported me in my artistic ways, he's not artistic himself and has no idea what it means to be. He also doesn't realise the extent of what art is, it's basically everything. Yet he still thinks I won't success in it. Probably right, there are millions of people, thousands and thousands alot better than me, who face a better chance of getting their dream job. The fact that I am also female makes getting the job I want that much harder. Colleges aren't that expensive here, alot of them are free if you're under 18. And they're not that much expensive afterwards (about £350 per term). But yeah, it's still alot of money, for anyone.

She's definitely in my favourites too! I mean, she was probably the first person I watched when I first joined this site. I know what you mean, it's really good to do studies of other artists' work, especially if learning the ropes of composition, lighting and colouring. I'm actually thinking of doing some myself, obviously I won't post it, but I think it'll help me with my environment stuff.

Be that as it may, but it helped you get to the point where you are. Hmmm, it IS hard for a person that isn't artistic to understand what art means, I think it's already hard to comprehend when you like art. Yes, there's a lot of people trying to become some sort of artist, but one artist is not the same as others. Like you said, there's many jobs that require some art knowledge.
Oh? I thought most colleges in the UK start at 2000 pounds per term. That's my mistake then ^^

Really? I think she might have been the first famous artist I actively watched too (once I understood the concept of "watching" artists). Yep, that's what I meant! I think that's a good idea. :]

Yeah it's true, if I were to change anything along my developing life I would most certainly not be the same person or artist I am now.
And yeah, anyone can choose to be that same artist. As the saying goes: Not everyone can be a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.
It depends where you go, because the better college you choose, the more expensive it is. Although I've not heard colleges to cost that much each term. Some do cost as much as universities, which is like £9000 a year, but otherwise I haven't seen many that cost anyway.

It's good to see her come such a far way too. And she was so skilled as a child as well. When I was a bit younger and first saw her yearly improvement meme from like 2003 to 2009, I was so baffled as to how good her early drawings were. It's strange, I kinda wish I was as good from that age, but again, I'd probably be a different type of artist.

Well, there's no use in thinking about all the "ifs" "woulds" and "coulds". Yep, true enough. Btw, what do you usually do when you have an artblock? I'm starting to freak out because I haven't been able to draw for several months now...
I see. Well just because a college is expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's good.

Yeah that's true. When I see people like her I feel incredibly motivated to improve myself. Yeah, it's hard to say how everything would have turned out, but I guess it's fine the way it is, since you improved so much over the last few years anyways.
