Description I apologise for all the Homestuck stuff, pretty much all I do at the moment now that I don't have a project or college work to do anymore *cry

Woah, I love the shading on her face and hair, and the color palette is awesome, too.

She's definitely up to something.
Amazing work, just as expected ;D Β I especially love how some parts are out of focus and the face is always sharp^^

My style is basically just a mix match of my favourite artists, there's really nothing unique here
Terezi generally has this kind of facade, she also wears sharp edged, bright red glasses too, but I dislike drawing glasses for fear of obscuring the eyes

Yeah, another technique I picked up from various artists haha I'm such a bad copycat.Β

That may be so, but whose style isn't? Imo that's what art is about, since it's a process of learning and a matter of taste. Besides, you'll always add your own mark without even noticing it. It just so happens, that you may not notice it.
Yeah, I know what you mean, glasses are a pain to draw.Β
Like I said, don't worry about that, that's normal ;D

I suppose so.. Well, I'll try my best, to be honest, I love realist work but I also love almost kind of cartoony work, kinda like the style that alot of the Homestuck fandom replicates. I don't know.. So many of my favourite artists have such different styles, and they're revered for such styles too. My style looks alot like their's ahaa

I've noticed you've improved too! Although I never knew you were that much into Homestuck, I know I haven't been very active lately, but when was it you became interested in it? (Ignore this if I have already asked this question, I have a really bad memory)

Yep, I know what you mean! It's sad that most people on dA only appreciate only one of those two styles (most of the time). You think so? I always thought that your stlye was quite unique, that's why I started to watch you in the first place.Β

Thanks! I know I have, but nowhere near as much as you. Like I said, after seeing your first HS picture I kinda got interested and checked it out. It is quite interesting, mostly the character development. (It's okay, I usually tend to forget what I asked whom as well ;D)

I guess I just don't have an outside opinion, it's difficult when I've essentially been raised on the style I have. But I would've thought that goes for other artists too. And I know it sounds strange, but I refer to all my favourite famous artists, I almost don't think of them as being normal human beings. It sounds weird and probably really awful to say, but because they're so famous, and so amazing skilled, it almost seems as though they're on completely different tiers to us.Β

Hey, it's not a competition XD Everyone learns at their own pace, and to be honest, I have just had like four weeks of artblock which I've only just manage to get out of o-o

Depends on what you understand by "being raised on a style". I started by simply copying pictures I liked as a child. Later I still copied poses, because I suck at anatomy, of course some of the things I copied stuck and that's how I developed my "style" if you can even call it that. Β
I wouldn't really say it sounds strange. My guess is that most people feel that way about good artists. Some people are just simply blessed with awesome talent and/or the patience to practice until they get as good as they are. Other people can't understand that so they are amazed by those people and of course that goes for other disciplinesΒ as well, not only art (e.g. science, music,...)Β

Haha it isn't, but at the same time I feel it is and I'm going to be left behind +sigh+ ^^ At least you managed to get out of it and with amazing pictures at that ;D

I think every artist starts by copying, that's how you figure out where you want to go with art from everything to style and colouring to the whole genre. I wasn't in that phase very long, I soon realised that I wasn't getting my own creative ideas out by copying other artists' characters and styles. And assuredly, what soon followed was absolutely craptastic, but I learnt alot XD Now I study anatomy rigorously, as well as light/colour and perspective. I seem completely different to the artist I used to be. Now I'm very scientific in what I choose and how I choose to paint, keeping in mind all of these factors that could make or break a painting. It's annoying too, because if I get one single thing wrong I have to change the whole picture. And it may take hours just to get a simple sketch down.Β

And yes exactly. I realised that people who are really young and exceptionally skilled aren't necessarily talented, they've just spent a whole more time from an even younger age mastering that particular skill. I only started drawing to a serious work ethic when I was 13. I'm 18 now, so I've been drawing for a good five years. There's still so much to learn though.. I'm but an amature when I see those artists out there who've been drawing for decades.Β

As long as you keep trying, then you'll always get out of it. And it isn't a competition either, you definitely shouldn't be comparing your progress to that of other people.. I contradict myself though.. I do it all the time XD

I guess yeah. I kinda envy you for that, I still haven't found my own style yet. It's amazing how Β much effort you put into your studies, you really give off that professional vibe. Haha yeah, your work looks pretty different, but you can deffinitely see something of your old works in your new ones too (which I guess is what we'd call "style"). That about the mistkaes happens to almost anyone though.. at least I think so.

Wait... are you serious?! You started that "late"? Ah, well, you're still young. I don't think you should still count yourself as amateur. Just now you're improving at an frightening speed and time is a relative thing when you're this dedicated. I've been drawing since forever, but I don't put as much effort in it and therefore I improve at a slower pace if at all.Β

True enough (and time, let's not forget that you have to have time..) Haha listenting to your own advice is always the hardest. I know I shouldn't do it, but like you I can't really help myself. ^^

Haha, thank you! I try to put as much effort into everything as I possibly can. This means that even if I'm tired, or sick of working on something, if one thing doesn't match the quality of the rest I'll still spend hours refining and modifying it. I think that's a good reason why I'm a good artist, I tend to overly correct things even if I see one tiny little thing wrong. And it makes the end result all that much better, because I spent so much time previously into getting it looking right like that.Β

And yeah, just imagine how good I'd be if I'd started drawing more seriously a few years before that?? I'd probably already be in the industry XD You really think I'm improving that fast? I don't think it's that fast, but then again I don't see much improvement until like a whole year of doing the same thing. But I'm planning on doing another improvement meme of the portrait one again, as I can actually see the improvement since March haha XD

Yeah, time is so important omg. But I'm trying to use it the best I can, so at the moment as soon as I wake up each day (the days where I don't have lessons) I start drawing immediately and won't stop until about 1 in the morning. Apart from taking breaks for food and the like XD

No problem Just for that you may very well deserve a place as one of my favourite artists. I really admire people like you, because it really shows that you can achieve something if you try hard enough. Keep it up!

Hahaha maybe, but you never know, I think that for many artists that start pretty young it's hard to adapt a more "serious" and "adult" style later on (because that's what I consider your style). I mean I love people that draw anime/manga-style but it makes me wonder if the could do works like yours as well. I think you improve EXTREMELY fast, yes. I saw your recent improvement meme..... SEE?! that's what I mean.

Really? Can you send me some of your dedication per mail please? Oo Seriously... how do you do that? But I see why you're so good now.
