Description A Green Dragon receives tribute from the Aztecs in the Valley of Mexico. The Aztecs saw the Green Dragons as the offspring of their god, Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent and treated them as living gods, bringing them lavish tributes. Most of the time the tribute consisted of fruit and small jewelry and other ornaments for the dragon's hoard though in some special occasions they offered a human in a ritual sacrifice where the dragon would consume the heart.

All this ended when the Spaniard CortΓ©s and his conquistadors showed up, their Christian ideology saw these dragons as evil servants of the devil and they eagerly killed any Green Dragon they came across, mostly to pillage it's hoard for gold and drag it all back to Spain. The last Green dragons were said to be slain at the Siege of Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital but some might have survived and now wander the ruins of this civilization in the trackless jungles.

Not eat, just use it's breath weapon to melt your face.

Well, there'd be several types of humans here.

A. You've got the humans who think dragons are all evil and need to die. So they'll fight.

B. The scared/cowardly humans who will run for their lives leaving everyone else to die.

C. The weird/crazy humans who start worshipping dragons and are even willing to toss themselves into a dragon's mouth and be eaten by it cause it will be an honor to them.

Nicely done Netar. Green Dragons are not one of my favorite D&D Dragons, but nonetheless a great image.

Ah yes CortΓ©s, a man so ruthless he even defeated Ivan the Terrible in that show Deadliest Warrior. Alternate history is always fun.

Hope we get to see a Black Dragon themed historical piece too.

Thanks, I realized I didn't had much Green dragons in my gallery yet. Maybe the next one will a Black, they're underrepresented too.

There isn't a whole lot of D&D dragon stuff being done lately. Even D&D itself seems to forget that dragon part in their name.
Yes, Black Dragons are underrepresented as well. It would be interesting to see what historical period/culture you place them in as you've done with you're previous dragon images.

Well, still have to find something, I can't think of a culture that lived in swamps right now.

Hmm, this a bit more modern than what you've done so far, but in Italy, there was a lot of watery/swampy areas that could be habitats for Black Dragons. It wasn't until WW2 when Mussolini and his Fascist forces drained a lot of those marshes/swamps and made them habitable for us humans. Maybe those drainings didn't always go down so peacefully? XD

Then again, medieval times can be used too...

As a tourist of the Yucatan area, I think you have created a real winner here.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the Yucatan was inhabited by the Mayans and not the Aztecs, don't worry, I keep getting those confused as well.
