wanted to see a WIP of her commission before I finished working on it!
I've had a LOT of fun with this already! I don't think I've ever done a scene with lots of stars and such a mystic feel to it; I hope you like it so far!
ALSO THAT GLOWING STAR PENDANT IS LOVE. I want one.

It's really beautiful, especially the colour palette! And you managed to use a realistic starry sky background without making it look tacked-on and kitschy-- in fact, it looks really great and fits the tone of the piece well.
Also THE WATER /drools/... it's gorgeous, and the sky reflection bit is awesome!

For the sky, I had to slap a bunch of watercolors (on real paper) and get some tiny streaks of white going, which I smudged into starry shapes once I scanned the watercolor paper into my computer. Then I added some more watercolor paper textures until I got the tone and look I wanted. It was kind of challenging, as I rarely do a galaxy-looking starry sky, but BOY was it fun!
Also, this character is so fun to work with! LOVE THOSE STAR BEADS.
