Lace probably (Like for mermaid scales you would take fish net put it on your face and apply makeup over it to get the "scales")

This is really great. It reminds me of the Serpiente characters from Amelia-Atwater Rhodes' Kiesha'ra series. What inspired the makeup pattern you chose to use, just out of curiousity...?

I saw in a magazine before a lace effect style of makeup, it was amazing, had loads of layers of colour etc, I kept it simple ^_^
