Too detailed? Pfft. So long as you can see the pixels and it doesn't turned into some photoshop'd creation or something 3-D... there's never too far with pixels. Look at the Pokemon Ranger sprites for instance. It'd be pretty neat if the RP-Pokemon games looked a little something like that graphically.
