Guess who finally. FINALLY. Got a ref sheet It was about deng time This has been on my to-do list for a very long time now, so it feels great to get it done ;w; I have all his angles figured out too, which is good to get down on paper.I have been contemplating changing his clothes every now and then to make it look even more appropriate to the time period, but I couldn't bring myself to change it up "that much" as I've grown attached to this design over the years. If Everwynch Manor ever became a thing, it would most likely be divided into a main story followed by smaller arcs. So I figured I could always change up the clothing somewhere between there if I so wish
Anyway, I will write an info dump to go along with this ref just to have everything in one place, so here we go

PERSONALITY:
Emmett is a well-mannered gentleman with a great passion in his field of medicine. He likes to help others in need for treatment, is polite, a little awkward and insecure, academic and kind. Will freeze and stutter in tense situations. He's seldom angry; Mostly patient and swallows frustration and pride, but can be pushed to the edge.

BACKSTORY:
Emmett comes from a wealthy family with a successful business in canned tomatoes in Victorian London. He was supposed to take over the business after his father, but he had other ambitions. He wanted to become a physician, so he attended medical school with the approval of his parents, Lillian and Edgar Abberoth. However, he discovered he couldn't stand the sight of blood, after fainting in the middle of a class during a demonstration. Therefore he pursued a career in pharmacy instead, much like his uncle, Elias, who had been a great inspiration for Emmett. Elias was the one who evoked Emmett's fascination in science and medicine. Emmett's parents reluctantly agreed to let him pursue his career in pharmacy, despite it not being as prestigious as a doctor's degree for them. But they believed he would be able to make a business out of it, and so they instead let the Abberoth business go to his cousin, Eustace.
Most of his relatives passively mocked him for following the footsteps of his crazy uncle and his quackery, but Emmett tried to keep calm during every family gatherings. One day, the Abberoths got the message that Elias had mysteriously passed away and left his pharmacy in Emmett's name. He had recently finished his apprenticeship, so he moved to the other town to take over the pharmacy.
When he settled in, it seemed like the local townspeople were excited by the reopening of the pharmacy, but disappointed that he didn't sell the same remedies as his uncle. Somewhere hidden in the shop, Emmett found a journal filled with recipes his uncle had left. However, he couldn't replicate a single one of them; The way they were written was also nonsensical. Inside the journal was also a note left to him, telling him to find a man named Philysium. The message wasn't complete, so he had no specific place to start his search. No one in town seemed to know this man either.
Just when Emmett was about to give up the pharmacy and accept that his uncle had gone off his rockers, he accidentally found a way to a place hidden in plain sight. Almost like a portal that brought his whole pharmacy to another version of the town, full of strange creatures and people, and what he would later discover was magic. In all the panic and chaos, he met a smile-less, yet consoling face that would bring him to this Philysium man and Everwynch Manor. One step closer to answers.

SOME EXTRA FACTS:
- Emmett is very interested in chemistry and loves brewing medicines along with some experiments.
- As mentioned, he is hemophobic, meaning he can't stand the sight of blood and will sometimes faint.
- Tea times are very important to him, when he's not caught up in work. Earl grey is his favourite.
- He likes reading; Mostly scientific reports or penny dreadfuls.
- Every woman his mother had introduced to him as a suitor has rejected him because of his pure awkwardness.
