Description
To state that clear - this is no self portrait where I whine about how horrible I am, it has a concept that many people should/can relate to.anyway, hope you can somehow figure the concept of this by yourself - I am in a bad mood right now and not really wanting to explain anything, sorry.

i can see the concept. some people are blinded by self-consciousness and always put themselves down, not having any confidence in themselves at all.
this will pass. cheer up!

When I went to Art College, there was SO MANY photo students who just had models get naked and they wrote shit all over their bodies in black pen/marker.
This is pretty much the same load of garbage I saw there.
This isn't good.
Its cliche and old and worn out.
Learn to take photos of people that express the "I suck" feeling so your viewers don't have to have written instructions on what the person in the photo is feeling.

It's called mixed media art. Deal with it, that is how I wanted to do it and I am happy with how it turned out.
I get where you are coming from, but maybe even think about what I wanted to express before critiquing me, although I appreciate that you took your time to give me some advice.

Mixed media art? yes that is the technical term for art form like this. And I'm glad that it came out the way you wanted it to. I found it rather childish that you removed my comment since no doubt there are many others who feel the way I do about this image.
And for thinking about what you wanted to express before critiquing you, well...sorry to tell you this but it wasn't hard at all to figure out what you were trying to express. That's the point i was trying to make. You took the easy way around expressing something that could have been so much more. Instead you did something so simple that it couldn't bring myself to call it "good art"
Paint shit any color you want, it's still shit.

I didn't remove your comment.
Yes, I know, it's quite simple.
Tell me, how would YOU have done it?

Are you asking me out of curiosity or are you just asking so you can respond harshly to whatever I say in an act of retribution for giving you criticism?

Well, Id keep it at a B&W image since colors just add to the vibrant feel and give an image more life. If we are going for the depressive, self loathing kind of feel, we want to siphon all color out of the image.
The subject could still be you, clothed in a tee shirt but maybe a size or two too big that way body type isn't really given away to much. This is, and i hate making this reference, like in Twilight. The main character isn't ever described in full so the reader can more easily place themselves in her shoes. You can accomplish that with an image like this by losing your body shape in clothing. Hence bigger tee shirt will allow your viewer to better put themselves in your shoes.
Next we need a setting, id say if you can get to a window thats high up (2-3 stories) and in an older house (attic would be awesome) you can make it feel more like we're looking at a mental state more than a physical place. When people have wanted to portray a person being lost in their own mind, its usually set in an attic or small room. This gives a strong feeling of claustrophobia and, following the idea of the attic, a place where nobody goes but you. A sanctuary. It should be dusty too (easy if its an attic, most are). a few boxes and old items to really emphasize the idea of the attic/mind. If the items are in disarray, that helps to to give the feeling of an unfocused mind.
Lighting can be a toss up. If i were doing this, id wait for a cloudy day. overcast or expected rain. Youd have to mess with the aperture and f stop settings to really get enough light to make sure everything that needs light is getting it in the pic. In post-pro, hiking up the contrast will help with this too. but dont go crazy with it. too high of contrast can ruin an image just as fast as it can help it.
finally the pose. of course with everything set in place, you need the pose to be the prime concern because when you call out a subject in an image, you want it to be a telling as possible. Id say the person (lets say yourself) would be standing at the window, looking out but severly downward (almost as if theyre looking at the window frame on the bottom. A very blank expression will tell volumes about the feeling and i know that sounds contradictory but it will. arms crisscrossed (like your hugging yourself) but have the hands be grabbing your arms instead of being tucked under them. grabbing the shirt with the closest hand works too. any little thing like that to help emphasize the "depressive" feeling.
as for the composition, include head to foot of the subject. dont cut off anything.
Thats where i'd start the photo shoot at least. When your in the moment, after everything is set up, you will tweek things here and there and you should be taking 20-30 shots at the BARE minimum. the more shots you have taken, the more choices you have in your final presentable piece.

I think what you described actually is a nice photo and it would be nice to portray depression, but I had a different concept. My concept was to show how people are blinded by thinking they are bad and they suck.
I missed that in your idea.

I hope you feel better Nikko, everything will be wonderful in the end. Just read all the comments youre getting and smile. The world isnt that bad after all. And you dont suck, its quite the opposite actually! Dont listen to what people say to you or to your negative feelings, just ignore them. I dont know what happened to you and I dont want to know either, but Im sure everything will be alright and the next moment you'll be posting amazing happy photos and you'll be joyful!
Feel better.

I really hope you feel better as soon as possible-you seem to be such a happy and life-admiring person that I really can't believe this will last long.Of course we all have our phases, but I'm sure you'll get over it soon(whatever this is),don't forget that you are strong and you have peopla that are here to help you
Now about the picture.I don't think it looks blurry. The concept is really awesome,it's like the model, while doing an announcemt about how he feels, also blinds himself so he cannot see why he sucks, maybe he says"I suck" because he had done something really bad in the past.(I'm always talking about the model, not you dear)

dots per inch, commonly for printing but also tells you the quality of your picture, when you reduce the size of your image for exporting, you want to make sure your dpi is in the 300 range so the quality is preserved

well you can adjust sharpness in the canon raw editor.
but for best results google "dxo" and download trial of that application, it's the most useful application i ever used, if you like it you can buy it it's not expensive as photoshop.
if you are lazy to do google click it [link]

of course tiff is far better instead jpg. but it's for editing, it must be converted to jpg before upload somewhere.
