Description
This certainly isn't my first attempt but it's a better one that I felt was worthy of posting. It's just a simple sketch that needed some color. Seeing how there's so many renditions of Sonic here on DeviantArt and most of them quite good, it's hard to be a little unique and put my own spin on it. I guess there's only so far one can go before it ends up not looking like Sonic. Over all, I'm happy with it and improvements are on the way as I progress. My intentions were to make some kind of 8 page comic. I can't say when this will get done but it's always in the back of my mind.Sonic property of SEGA

Good stuff! Not much room for chili dogs in that stomach!

He needs work considering how good everyone else draws him but it's not a character I draw every day. Still, it's not bad. Yeah, the stomach is kind of small but I was going more for the modern version. Could be a little bigger though or maybe elongated more.

I'm not sure, but I think the only slight change you need to make is for the eyebrows to be closer in the middle to his nose. Retro sonic had eyes like that but I think modern sonic his eyes a little lower in the middle.
Personally I like the style, though it must be quite hard to get his legs "just right"

I think you're right about the eyes. you'd think something as simple looking as Sonic would be a piece of cake. Not entirely so. However, if I would have drawn him as much as the TMNT, he'd look perfect or about as good as I'd like him to look. His legs don't typically widen as you get to the bottom but I guess it's more of a style thing. Also, they might be a bit long. Maybe if I extended his torso down a bit his legs wouldn't look so long.
I think I see a new Sonic picture going up in the future to see if I can make improvements.
Thanks for the input

Now that you got me to look at it again, Sonic's right shoe looks normal, curving outwards as it should, but the left shoe, because of the perspective, looks like it is curving inwards, if you see what I mean. It looks a little shallow to me.
Also concerning the legs, Sonic's character typically has never used straight lines, if you look at all of the art, pretty much curves all over and I think that is obvious to me now, but before I couldn't quite pin it down.
Here is a good comparison of the 2 versions of sonic and explains what I mean: [link]

Yes, I see what you mean about the foot but the sharp angles over all are intentional. Thanks for the constructive criticism and the comparison picture. Looking at this, I can see what's wrong with my work.

Oh oh, Sonic comic..?
This you mentioned already, right?
Are you working on it already? :3
I know you said it's easy to get distracted >,<
I feel for you, same here. I have scripts for an original story for..a month now and I only sketched one page XD;
I should pull myself together and at least post some character sketches or sth XD
GO WE~

So you know what it's like to get distracted. I hate feeling like I didn't get anything done when it comes to original work. I have a story I've been working on for this Sonic book off and on but it's pretty much dialog at this point. That seems to come to me a lot easier than writing action sequences. I'd like to finish the Sonic book eventually but I'm thinking I should get onto my original work. I should get back to Covo but the problem is, I thought about redesigning him a bit so that he has a more youthful cartoony look. I showed this design to a friend and he said I should roll with it because he really likes it. Now I'm torn between doing cartoony and realistic. The complications never end.
