I think the idea you had in mind is very nice, and composition-wise, it's very good. I think the thing that bothers me the most about the pose is the way she's sitting. As I can see, it looks like she's sitting on the very edge of the step and bending her thighs upwards awkwardly. People don't usually sit like that unless their feet are touching the ground and the shins/calves are longer than the elevated surface, but her legs are free and dangling, so I find it awkward . If you sit with dangling feet, the legs should either go in a declining position or the step is closer to the knees rather than the gluteus maximus.
I do think her face and hair is pretty though. XD

Ah I see. So if I had drawn the feet on a leveled on a step it would look more correct? Also would doing so make the spacing between the steps awkward or uneven?
yay for face and hair X3
Btw, you have the intuos tablet right? I debating whether or not I should buy one. My graphire3 is pretty old but not broken so I dont feel right buying a new tablet (but I really want to see the difference between ~500 and ~1000 pen pressure).

I'm not what the best solution to fixing it would be though. Everything would require a lot of work to fix because the linear perspective is off. Like if you're looking up at her, the stairs wouldn't look like that? It's kind of a complicated thing to draw in the first place?
I had a graphire3 4x5 but then I bought a serial tablet 12 x 18 of intuos2 so I cant use it but on desktops. So I havent had much of a chance to use it >_>

were you wearing a swimsuit when you posed? besides the fact that we both know what u look like, next time get someone smaler and more prone to wearing small bits of clothing to be your reference. also, the sleeves don't match, you've got some sort of half thing going? And tell me what's goin on with those feet?
overall, if you're gonna pose for your own pictures, ditch the insecurity. I can see it all over her body, even though it doesn't show in her face. Back straight, chin up, elongate!
i wish i could go to matsuri, i don't think it falls within my spring break
So, was I harsh enuff for ya? <2 Miss ya lotses!

Ah you're right... could you send me the link to that stock site use sometimes use for pose references? x_o'' would probably make my life easier.
Meh Matsuri hurts my schedule too... I haven't paid for the table yet but I'm considering not going since I won't have a crew ;-; It's no fun when you're by yourself. Also I'm not feeling too confident about my wares. I think I'll skip this year and instead try to practice and explore perspective techniques and such.
I miss u lots too :3

you better go ho' it's not like Tech is gonna change scheddys, maybe we could hook up in the summer and stuff.
As for reference, go to *StudioQube and their website.
also i use several of the dA stock accounts
*faestock *cable9tuba etc etc. I also use the tutorials i left archived at ~Tutorial-Tech just snoop around dA and such. you can eyeball pictures pretty well, so I suggest you take a look at some of your favorite manga (i say manga because the pictures will stay still and clear for you)
I suggest manga along the style of Eureka Seven and Elfen Lied. The artists are more attentive to proportion in those ones,

From what I see, the perspective on her hand shouldn't be like that. I see the upper part of her arm to be falling straight, and from that I interpret the lower part of the arm to be the only part which is extended.
If I see it this way, then her arm is out of proportion and anatomically incorrect. Her upper arm should be longer (as should her torso), and her hand shouldn't be so big.
I know you're practicing with perspective, but you have to remember that are arms aren't THAT far from our bodies. Go to a big mirror somewhere in your house or go to a department store and look into the big clothes mirror and do that pose.
Her sleeve on her left hand also doesn't look right with it resting on the step either.
With the perspective that you are aiming for, I suggest to bring her shoulders forward more. Right now they are too far back.
Sketch the shape of her torso in again with the shape of her hips, to me her hips are really big. And for those big hips I believe we should be seeing more of her thighs.
Because right now her calves are just a bit unbelievable.
Too many parts of it look off to me, I wouldn't buy it, but I'm sure other people will. They always do at cons.

The funny thing is that I used a photo of me for parts of this pose. I guess that makes me anatomically incorrect x_o.
Yeah at cons, I've seen people buy things with worse anatomy, but moving away from that topic, what about the coloring? Is it too dull, does it lack scheme? Or does it look to much like everday stuff?
I guess what I'm asking is what am I doing right?

The colouring isn't that bold or colourful, I think that is why I looked at the lineart so much.
It is a welcome change to too shiny arts ^^, I like the way you coloured her boots the most, out of all of the clothes she's wearing her boots have the most form and volume.
Though my most favourite part of the piece is the stairs behind her, it just looks magical and sweet.
I think with your reference, that you were drawing what you imagined it to look like, because I doubt that your hand would be too big like that or that your right arm would have weird proportions like that.
I just think this needs a bit of looking over, just create another file and sketch the shape of a skeleton over the top. Because I can see a lot of wrongness in the pose. Also go back to your photo and put it side by side with your drawing.
