Description
The screenshot above is for the Aero version. The archive contains BOTH Aero AND Basic versions of this theme.UPDATES
20 Nov, 2011: Fixed the vertical Taskbar when using small icons in the Basic version. Aero theme is unchanged in this update.
25 Oct, 2011: Changed "All Programs" button on Start Menu for the Basic theme to match that in the Aero version. Aero theme is unchanged in this update.
22 Oct, 2011: Changed shape of scrollbars (now rounded instead of square), Basic version Title Bar shape now matches those in the Aero version, Show Desktop button when using a vertical Taskbar is no longer transparent, and various other minor fixes.
14 Apr, 2011: Fixed a minor Start Menu alignment issue in the Aero theme. Made a further adjustment to the DPI scaling of both themes.
22 Mar, 2011: Modified the Start Menu elements so that it (finally) scales more or less correctly with DPI changes (the "make text and other items larger or smaller" in the Screen Resolution control panel). Probably no one uses this feature, but it always bothered me it didn't work with my theme!
12 Mar, 2011: Swapped the colour scheme for the Start Menu around. Slightly lightened the Explorer bottom pane, plus a few other minor tweaks. Added resource files for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (non SP1 files are still included). If you have just installed SP1 you will probably have to repatch the various theme.dll files with the included patcher to use 3rd party themes.
DESCRIPTION
YADS is essentially my Chronicles of Riddick theme, "Pitch Black" (now "Riddick" [link] ), minus Riddick.
The theme is dark, but designed to be fully useable in day to day work. To that end, it retains a light global window background (e.g. in documents etc).
The images seen in the Start Menu and Wallpaper are not by me (although I have had to heavily Photoshop them), so if anyone knows who the original artists are let me know and I'll credit them!
YADS is fully compatible with both 32 and 64-bit Windows 7 (including Service Pack 1).
INSTALLATION
Installation does NOT require replacing aero.msstyles. It can be activated/deactivated using "Personalization" in the control panel, so you can easily switch themes if you don't like or get bored of this one.
I have also included some matching Windows resource files (both 32 and 64 bit versions for both Win7 and Win7 SP1), but installation of these is entirely optional (full instructions are included in the archive).
KNOWN LIMITATION
In a handful of apps the toolbar text is black, and therefore almost impossible to read. These apps, for reasons only known to their developers, use the global Windows Text colour for their toolbar text. Since I want black text on light backgrounds in documents, this cannot be fixed. However, if the app is skinnable (and a lot of modern apps are), this issue can be easily addressed by applying an appropriate skin to the app.
If you find any bugs or items that need fixing please let me know! Suggestions to improve this theme are also welcome.

I'm kind of computer retarded when it comes to installing these types of things to my computer. I usually fuck something up. Love the theme and thank you for making it easy to install. Thank you for making my desktop pretty!

Have checked it out. Presumably you are referring to the menubar font color? The reason is the default FF4 theme forces its own grey menubar, but retains the global menubar color scheme set by YADS. Very easy to fix by applying a theme to FF4 (after all, if you're theming Windows, why aren't theming FF??!!). This one looks rather nice: [link] and there are lots of others that will work too. Alternatively, if you really, really like the FF4 default theme, you can force the menubar font color using the userchrome.css file.

Is there any way I can have JUST the start menu background? PLEASE! Because the dark windows explorer headers annoy me slightly, and I like my Carbon fibre themed taskbar and window borders, but, I am IN LOVE with your start menu! It is simply amazing!
Please help.

Unfortunately, you can't mix and match elements from different themes without a third party app. Creating your very own standalone Frankentheme using items from other themes is actually pretty easy with Windows Style Builder [link] .

Thanks! I probably wouldn't have made this if you hadn't suggested it. Frankly I'm amazed a theme totally devoid of Riddick is getting this many downloads. It just makes no sense! .

it does, you see, i love riddick too but sometimes im just in the mood for something more simple, discrete and causual at the same time, this theme has its own attitude, and to be honest, after all the same 7's MacOS wannabe themes, always the same darn thing, this one its REALLY innovative, its different (finally) its not too fancy, but it doesnt need to, it just kicks ass, one of my favourite man, thanks for doing it.
