Description
I forgot to mention that I also used the purples I used to color the hair to darken the shadows of the skin :3and yes, this is a tutorial... a really crappy one, though, but some people have been asking me to show how I color with copics, so that's my reason for doing this..

You can buy them online from amazon, or really any online art store. Also, blick has some really good prices for copics. Blick's online store is called dickblick.com

Very helpful thanks. Im getting copics for xmast so then this is rly handy. Pro markers aren't so pro afterall..
And you really should let the ink dry that time. I drew yesterday, and didn't let the ink dry and that drawing looks kinda horrible smudge

Ah damn... I still need a hell lot of more Copic markers before I can colour like this..
And I thank you for telling me that I need special paper.. I guess that's why my markers are spreading like mad when I use them..
Anyway, I love these markers, just a shame they are so expensive -__-

How do you seem to get the colors to blend? My copic markers bleed so much. D':

nocturnalMoTH In reply to OokamiCasha [2010-10-13 08:14:39 +0000 UTC]
I dunno.. maybe you're using the wrong type of paper? On marker paper, they don't bleed at all
And you can use a colorless blender marker to make the colors blend (I hardly ever use it though
but it's probably very handy, 'cos it does make the colors blend very smoothly)

have you taken a copic marker certification by the copic company?

what kind of ink did you use to do the outline of the character? (I use staedtler permanent markers)
also, don't feel weirded out by my random question.. i've always wanted to know what this "magic pen" is
π: 0 β©: 1
MaikoIchigo In reply to MaikoIchigo [2010-10-12 23:51:37 +0000 UTC]
ink as in what brand and what pen
π: 0 β©: 1
nocturnalMoTH In reply to MaikoIchigo [2010-10-13 08:19:10 +0000 UTC]
I used Pilot pigment liners (they're dark blue with some yellow writing on them I think) size 0.2, and I also used Copic pigment liners, size 0.3
I do have some Staedtler pens, and they're good, but I sort of think the Pilot ones are better.
Oh, I just recalled.. I have a deviation showing what tools I use! [link] You can see the Pilot pens there

Just a question, how long does it usually take you to color a picture?
π: 0 β©: 1
nocturnalMoTH In reply to Kawaii-Jen-Chan [2010-10-13 08:22:21 +0000 UTC]
oh, I didn't time this one (I don't usually time any drawing though), but I'm guessing about 30 minutes? plus some minutes for the sketch.. But I normally don't spend much time on coloring. The lineart and sketch is what's the most time consuming. But it depends a lot on the drawing
the more color it requires, the more time it takes

Kawaii-Jen-Chan In reply to nocturnalMoTH [2010-10-13 22:30:09 +0000 UTC]
Wow, it usually takes me 45-60 minutes minutes when I'm doing a sketch. YOU EEZ DRAWING GOD.

Very nice tutorial, I've always wanted to try copic markers but have been too afraid to try because I didn't know what I was doing, but I really think this'll help me. Thank you for making this Awesome picture, too!

I don't use the blender that much, no. I probably should, and, well, I've used it sometimes, but it's too time consuming for me to bother using it much..
