ACR stands for Adaptive Combat Rifle if I recall correctly. Now this just fits the very idea to a tee! Long range is covered for sure with the holographic (correct me if I'm wrong) sight, which especially helps during semi-auto shots. Mid-range is covered with the grip providing stability during bursts. Close range is covered with the bayonet, which already turns the powerful gun into a spear. Most situations, if not all situations, are covered.
