I think this is a pretty big leap for me, as far as space scenes go. This is only my 3rd spacescape, second attempt at a nebula, and a first as far as the planet and explosion went. I'm rather pleased, even if it isn't *great* yet.
Entirely photoshop 7 work with a couple of textures for the planet. BTW, alyn rocks for making a tutorial that helped me on this planet.

Critique's encouraged again. As I said, this is really only my third spacescape, and I'm very new to most of the techniques I used, so any suggestions/comments would be appreciated, technical or just visually. (Or even a fav, though I don't know if this qualifies as worthy

I like it. Yes please tell me how you get those brushes like that using defualts. Want to know so bad! Like one person stated above, the explosion on the top left seems a bit out of place. But everything else is great, the stars are perfect and so is the planet and it's explosion. Very nice work.

Yeah... apparently the top left isn't so hot... That was an attempt at something nebulaeish, but I guess I still need a lot of work on that. Also, that wasn't entirely my own brushes/defaults, but that parts bad anyway, so I'm going to ignore that it ever happened...
As to brushing... the texture feature on brushes is key, then blending modes can really be helpful, both with the brush and layers. The explosion is at least 15 layers or something crazy like that. It took a while to make it look right for the differences in brightness and just to create all of it. As for brushing, very little of it was done on just normal mode, I was using a lot of screen, linear dodge (bright spots), multiply (darkening) and difference (both and texture). Though, it wasn't 100% defaults, I have a bunch of self made brushes that I use a fair amount. Speaking of which, I need to post another brushset or two up here...

Well not, thats a very nice peice ^__^
There are a few things though:
-The explosion needs to be smaller, and more realistic. Right now it looks alot as if its kinda... okay I'm not even going to try and describe what it looks like...
- The nebula needs to blend more with the rest of the stars, right now it looks kinda like some random explosion...
-If that brushing is all defaults\own burhses, you HAVE to teach me hwo to do that

The nebula in the back looks oddly like denim (on fire, obviously), but fits in nicely

I like this... I think it amazed me that this work is only made by photoshop, you must've put a lot of energy during the making of this work and I adore this piece so much

I would've made the explosion smaller, or set it more ontop of the planet. Maybe even remove the thing in the top left corner. Just not fitting the scene for me.
Other than that, awesome work. You got some untapped talent.

Glad you like it. I can see where you are coming from with the explosion, and for the upper left, well, that was just me playing around really, but I might remove it now that you mention it.
