Description
my lame attempt at explaining how i do fur...i'm assuming everyone has a pretty good knowledge of PS, cause i didn't include the little screen grabs that show what tools and brushes i'm talking about..
but they're all quite standard, so hopefully everyone can figure it out
EDIT:
here's a little screen grab showing which brushes i was talking about... and yeah, the tool that in reality is called "smudge" I called "smear". same thing :}

Very simple, and the approach to it all. Wow. I draw my fur bit my bit when I try realism.
But the part I like best is you actually demonstrated on a piece of the wolf, when many people take a nonexistent random splotch of one color and spice it up. Its impossible to apply it to full form bodies. This helps a ton. <3

I love you.
Seriously, I've seen a lot of fur tutorials before, but this was by -far- the easiest to understand. Who needs a million steps when you can have six!

That is so beautiful. What a wonderful tutorial - thank you for writing it.
Now, I just need to develop the discipline to sit down and draw!

What is the program you used in here? I was just wondering whether this "smear" tool could be the same as "smudge" which I'm familiar with in Photoshop? It looks quite like it. Or if there is a tool that I don't know about.

Wow, I somehow thought of the process of drawing fur as far more complicated. I think you did an awesome job of explaining this - it might just be the next step for me! ^_^

well, when you see a finished image of well-done fur.. it DOES look complicated! and actually it took me a long time to figure out how to do it like this... but this works out pretty easy.. for me.. hehe.. hopefully it makes it easy for everyone else, too :}
