Description
my lame attempt at explaining how i do fur...i'm assuming everyone has a pretty good knowledge of PS, cause i didn't include the little screen grabs that show what tools and brushes i'm talking about..
but they're all quite standard, so hopefully everyone can figure it out
EDIT:
here's a little screen grab showing which brushes i was talking about... and yeah, the tool that in reality is called "smudge" I called "smear". same thing :}

nice tut, "however if you are trying to do this without a taablet I will keep you in my prayers"
XD nice everyone keeps saying that so I take it its impossible to do it without a tablet or just very very hard. One tut even said its crazy to do it with a tablet

I'm trying to do this...without a tablet o_O
First, can you recommend a good tablet that's not too expensive?
Second, when you are putting the colors together in step 2, are you putting them all together in one layer, or are you alternating? I'm trying with a different layer for the colors, and it's not turning out as realistic.
Great job!!! I envy you! <3

Hi,
I've a really stupid question, but important for me... How can I do ON the sensibility of for example tool brushes? You know... When I'm drawing, to not make it bigger/smaller, but darker/lighter?
I know, shame on me, but I'm not similiar with PS... I work with GIMP until now...
And I really ask you, please, anwser.

This is a very helpful tutorial indeed! Grand job to be honest!
heh, the Wolf colors look exactly like my wolf's characters, a good choice for doing a tutorial because we can see the highlights with all the colors verses just a single color like black or white, though that would be interesting to see!

now I'm quite familiar with PS- but I'm new to digital art and this really gave me a huge boost of confidence. The steps are simple and easy to follow and you don't use any tools that aren't standard to make a beautiful effect. Thank you so much for creating this-
Now the next step is practice, practice and more practice! ^^

yeah it does kinda make for huge images
but if you paint it big, just imagine how great it will look a little smaller when you go to make a print!

D: I don't have a tablet.... but I so badly want one. but since I use the mouse, I have quite some patients doing my art for two-three years with it @_____@ I would actually try to do some thing like this in one day. I probably could..... If my parents would let me. XD when I move out I will lol and take my patients to the limit......... so far, my only problem is I lose my patients when I can't get something right... then I stop working on my pic for like FOREVER and get back to it and see how cruddy it really was D:
lol I think I talk to much..... btw, this is now my top fav tutorial of all time.

I used to do hair like this, but it would take just too long, especially for commissions. You can speed it up a bit with a custom hair brush. I'd use a 6-spot brush to save my poor wrist a bit of work.

wow, it's not hard, easier than I thought....
but it's so time consuming, like you said, I wouldn't have enough patience to do that!
I may adapt it to my same old way. Thanks!
