The Sprint-Class Frigate is the standard 'workhorse' of the Khenalan Interstellar Defense Force. It is a medium-displacement multi-role vessel primarily tasked around 'secondary duties' such as interdiction, search & rescue, patrol, escort, and light skirmishing. Because the KIDF has direct access to RDF technologies, it has some features more commonly found on mainline RDF warships, such as a PTU-557 composite hull, integrated BOOBYTRAP and HBM sensor arrays. Primary firepower is provided by emplaced particle cannons with secondary throw of forward-mounted torpedo launchers and a 'sub-spinal' exotic particle cannon mounted under the nose. Crew totals are light though larger than RDF standards with again more 'secondary duty' specialist personnel.

Inside the Khenalan Federal State's Interstellar Patrol Boundaries, these vessels are most commonly found in groups of three operating as anti-piracy and smuggling patrols where they will usually conduct random checks of those bits of galactic flotsam and jetsam that often serve as temporary homes for these outlaws. In-system they are usually paired with another larger vessel that acts as a mobile command post for the element; either a Stalwart-Class Battle Cruiser or a Sentinel-Class Carrier.
