at high school (or the UK equivalent) the headmaster came to see me once (which was very unusual); took me into a classroom, and asked me whether i knew that Leonardi da Vinci could draw a perfect circle freehand.
He was an unusual fellow and the teachers revolted and fired him a few years after i left.

And I wonder if he knew that that was not actually the case. He coulnd't. Nor was he ambidextrous, or a genius inventor, or wrote in code.

Hahaha - or he read it in some antiquated and rather wrong write-up about Leonardo. God, the translations by J.P. Richter that the Oxford World's Classic edition of 'The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci' uses are just terrifyingly inaccurate, in the sense that Richter changed words, made the sentences sound more posh and tailored to Victorian sensitivities... It's sad. A lot of books were and still are around that just show da Vinci in a completely false light.

Well yeah, the English version is what is so fucked up. LOL Richter didn't transcribe them, he only translated them.
And nope. The only one that keeps everything intact is the Italian version.

You can keep them, they are still the ones used today.
They just leave out all the good stuff. Because as said, Victorian sensibilities.
