He's always referred to as a male in the cartoon, maybe they found a rare female up in the mountains somewhere...or in another iceberg lol

lol this is an awesome reference XD but Appa isn't "incapable of running" as he is seen running at an insane speed in "The Swap" in Book 2 and running at slower speeds in a few other episodes, including the end of "The Cave of Two Lovers". I don't know about the jumping so much though

Sweet Appa goodness! And thanks for pointing me in the right direction for the project
From the front, Appa seems shorter and wider than you've got him here, but I guess he's sort of standing with his head up? But your side profiling is perfect, imo. I was thinking bout drawing some Appa and Momo and now I've got some sweet references to use. Thankies!
