Description
Let the Right One In.You know when you have one of those days where - art wise - everything just does right? Ive had one of those days. And its made me freaking happy. This is the vampire Eli from the book/film 'Let the Right One In'. Eli and Oskar are just adorable. I loved them film then recently got the book, which is amazing, but extremely creepy. I hope you guys like this, i'm really proud of it! [The version without the watermark is better though, haha. I also have a version without the blood which i like too! Ill upload it if anyone wants to see it~] <3

Wow, she's happy about being so bloody. I'd be freaked out. lol
I love her eyes, and her hair! I have so much trouble with styled hair. XP

Your welcome. ^_^
Lol, that just means you need practice. My hair is curly, so I just look at it for ideas, but if I try to draw it, it ends up a mess. XP
Yours looks amazing though. I suspect is has something to do with the brush/strokes you used. sheer amazing.

Oooh, I think this is one of the best things I've seen you do lately.
Firstly: The facial proportions are vastly improved from a lot of your earlier works - I don't even have to redline it!
I'm really liking the more painterly style, and your use of color has definitely improved; you're getting some of the subtle transitions in the flesh tones, which is nice to see. I also really like how you handled the hair, it seems like you really loosened up your brushstrokes... it seems a lot more natural and organic than your usual work.
It's also very nice to see that you're taking into account the form of the face. Not only in shading, although it's nice to see - but also in the way the blood drips. It doesn't just drip straight down, but curves and follows the contours of his face. That really halps in giving it a sense of three-dimensionality.
I think at this point, since you've really made some good progress with facial proportions... maybe it might be worthwhile to spend some time observing the individual parts. I think it might be good for you to draw a few pages of eyes, a few pages of noses, a few pages of lips - all different kinds, from different angles.
A few things for this piece, though-
-I'm a bit confused about the dark area on the right (our right) side of his nose? Is it blood? bruising? shading (though I doubt it, since it's not repeated elsewhere)?
-also with the nose, the dark area seems to start a little bit abruptly, imo. If I were to paint it, I think I'd make it extend underneath the blood drip a bit, just to make it a bit more natural and a little less graphic. As of right now it makes the face seem unnaturally split, if that makes sense.
-The eyebrows, to me, maybe could be integrated into the face a bit more - right now, they just seem kinda stuck there... it might be good to vary the values of them a bit more - usually, the bottom edge of eyebrows fade into the skin, almost like you've faded the outer edges of the blood running down his face.
-A minor nitpick, but I'd try and lose the line under the chin - it flattens out the face a little bit. It might be a good idea to try and have it fade into the shading on the neck.
-another minor nitpick, but it just bothers me a bit that both lips are the same value... . Usually, depending on your lighting, you'll have one lip in shadow (usually the upper lip, but not always) .
As always, sorry if any of that doesn't make sense; haha.

Ahh, thankyou so much for the critique! <3
[I look forward to your comments so much~ XD]
Thankyou!! I'm really glad!
Whoop! I flipped the canvas alot to make sure it was coming along okay!
Ill have a go at doing some, thankyou!
In the reference it was shading, but i hadn't managed to carry it off with the rest of the face... Ill keep working on that! Don't worry, it all made perfect sense~ (:
Ill try hard to improve for next time!
Thanks again~

I quite like this! Technically there are some flaws, but it has a kind of intangible, compelling quality that compensates, in my opinion.

kickass piece of fan art. awesome movie. You got the slightly weary, amused smile just right as well as the tangled hair. The blood looks great to, very wet and runny. Perhaps you could do one with snow too? That would be a nice compliment to this one, perhaps with Oskar?. Crisp & white vs red & bloody. Just a thought. nice job keep up the excellent work.

That's what I've heard! I really want to read it to find out more about Eli's past and when she was a he, haha. I hear the book goes way more into that.
Same here; I'm not planning on really liking it, but at least the one playing "Eli" (or whatever dumb name they gave her instead) is an actress I like.

She is the only hope i have for the film since she did such an awesome job at playing Hit-girl in Kick-ass.
