Another sketch of Little Spike, refining the facial design. Wanted to give her a touch of awkward so she gets a giant forehead and oversized ears.Its 6am, the booze has worn off, I'm going to bed.Β

Hot DAMN!Β I love the way you do wild, punky characters.Β There's a rough honesty in the subtle details of their appearance that only serves to make them that much more enchanting and beautiful.Β It's one of the things I love about your character designs - the subtle, all-too-human imperfections that make them feel like living, breathing people, rather than just lines on a page.Β It's an absolute delight to behold.Β

I have to get into the head of every character during the creation process and figure out the hows and whys of that character's rationale. I do tend to pull a lot of inspiration from real lifeΒ some Spike here is an amalgam of a few girls I've known over the years (as well as a handful of internet selfies), but is heavily influenced by a stripper that lived two stories above my apartment when I lived in Santa Monica during the back half of the 1990s. She definitely has her nose ( which was unusually straight and a bit longer than most) and her unreasonably large breast implants when you considered how skinny she was.Β

Always cringe when i see face piercing....infection can destroy that part of your face if not looked after.

Pretty much can be said of any piercing, though. As someone who used to have quad cartilage piercings I know all about the risks involved.

There's definitely a balance between an accent and too much. That bring said, the girls I've dated over the years that were into tats and piercings pretty much don't give two damns what anyone else thinks.
