Description
Got my first ever graphics pad this week, so......first attempt at playing about on it trying to see how it works. Their idea of what an acrylic paint stroke looks like doesn't seem to be the same as mine...Good fun though. But a looong way to go before I get the hang of the thing.

That sounds really frustrating, I'm glad it only happened to you once.
Yeah, I shall be saving very frequently. And I've deleted all the games off the PC to free up more space, (well, except the SIMS, as I can't bring myself to delete that. Though, with the extensions, that is a bit of a space hogger.

Sims is always worth all the place it takes.

(And since it's the only way I can prod Arthur and Merlin to get into bed together and make whoopee.... I'm so shallow!

Oh yes that too!
Well, it's possible to do that in writing or role playing but that wouldn't be visual sadly.
Gotta love the Sims~

From the thumbnail it actually looked traditional, but once I saw it bigger I noticed the difference right away.
Good stuff, Itz!

At the moment I'm trying to find out what brushes do what, and work out how to mix the colours. (I can just about mix colours on it, but so far what I'm doing is very crude and hit and miss. I need to play about to find out how to add just a tiny bit of a colour to a mix.)
Also the brushes don't do what I expect. With a lot of the brush-options I seem to be getting two colours appearing in the brushstroke instead of just one. Which is on one of the tutorials, so I know it's a feature, but I don't want it. I don't paint that way, I choose ONE colour at a time and that's the colour I want to use. I'm not a spontaneous/splash-it-on-and-see-what-happens type. :g:
So I ended up using a brush which seems to give the effect of those colour art markers you can buy. (Which was cool actually, as I've fancied trying those but couldn't afford to buy a set, so having them on the tablet is really neat.)
I haven't worked out how to do something that looks like paint though.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ctrl+Z function!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! At least you're exploring all options! (And finding the less than stellar ones!)
I have to agree. The best thing about the computer is Ctrl Z. Then again working to hide/incorporate mistakes is a satisfying challenge as well.

I've found a lot of less than stellar ones so far... I think that is most likely because I have no idea of how to use them rather than it being their inherant quality though.
Yeah, saving stuff in "real life" can be satisfying. Although, sometimes I think it makes you timid. As if you've painted something moderately decent, then doing something radical to it can be too scary, since you can utterly wreck something that's taken days to make... Being able to try things, and then undo them if they don't work sounds like it would be a bit liberating...

Live and learn right?
True, though at the same time it's sometimes good to just try and get over the timidness and just go for it. Then again, I have a whole stack of art fails hanging out in the corner. XD

Well, I might be a bit cautious, but I also have a stack of art fails sitting at the back of the cupboard. Sometimes it's just gonna go down the pan whatever you do.

It is SOOOOO handy. I shall miss it terribly the next time I do painting with "actual/real" paints.
