Description Eastern Pondhawk Dragonfly,think it was eating an aphid or something else,didn't get to see much of it lol

Shot in my yard so a lot of clean up was done,he is missing his back legs lol

Pondhawk dragonfly! Very awesome pic...looks like it couldve been a bee's head maybe. And yea they lose legs pretty often. Parts of their wings too sometimes.

Yeah he was the first missing both legs I think I've seen lol,thought he was an eastern pondhawk,just didn't confirm it to post on here

An incredible capture!!!


Not an aphid....too big and antennae not the same.

The legs are there. They are folded and pulled close to the body on each side of the "neck". They often hold them that way so they can be used to aid in capturing as a trapping device.

Yeah all I see here are these and some orangey brown ones,but I love the neon colors on these
