Here is the first of few Photographs I have of a Camping trip my g/f ~gothicveildancer and I went on.Grundy Lake Provincial Park.
I touched it up just a bit in Photoshop.

This has better composition. Specifically, although you have a line down the middle vertically, horizontally, it's more in thirds. The contrast between the closer trees and the more distant ones is nice.
I'm betting those clouds were very pretty, but by manipulating it, you took out all the detail. If you simply had insufficient depth of field, there's a couple of things you can do. One is to focus midrange and stop down your lens. Take several shots, one at infinity, and one with the rocks more in focus, but the one that will probably turn out the best will be the one where you focus kind of in the middle. Another thing you can do is take with an extreme wide angle lens, then crop. The wide angle will give you better depth of field. If this is film, scan at a higher dpi to get the same size file.
