Description
Jaguar XK 120 C / C-Type (195?)ADAC Altstadt Grand Prix 2017
What a beast of a car! The 3442cm² straight-six engine beating under the hood of the XK 120 C produces up to 200 bhp - enough to keep accelerating to a top speed of 232 km/h. This is highly impressive, considering the first version of this car dates back to 1948.
It is loud, it is fast, and it makes absolutely no effort to conceal what it was built for: Racing.
This is basically a street-legal racing machine; while this may seem unusual today, it was actually the norm back in the 1950s, when these cars were driven from one race event to another on their own four wheels (instead of being loaded onto a transport vehicle).
The reason I can't give the exact date it was built is simple: According to the list of participants it was built in 1955; this, however, must be wrong as the model was discontinued after 1953 and succeeded by the Jaguar D-Type. This means it was manufactured somewhere between 1951 and 1953.

Great image! In black and white and on the brick street this nearly looks like it was from a street race in the 1950's. Well done.

Glad you like it! It's great they chose a city with lots of historic architecture for this event, if it wasn't for the people and the many modern gadgets in this image it could indeed pass as a scene from the 50s.
In any case, I was very happy to see and hear this car in person - definitely one of the most impressive machines of the whole event. There was nothing else quite like this pure racing machine.
