I find it funny that the missiles depicted here resemble the design used in Space Battleship Yamato. George Lucas even mentioned when he and his art team were designing the worlds of the original Star Wars that other Sci-Fi had inspired them. The rounded displays in much of the original trilogy was definitely inspired by Yamato's trademark designs. I am not complaining. I like that Yamato and perhaps other 1960's and 1970's Sci-Fi and Anime helped shape the Star Wars universe.
