Hey I don't expect an answer but what the hell great tutorial but I find that the shading of the characters ins't as detailed as it should be you kinda made me confused so do I use the airbrush in grayscale then do the tinting im really not sure.
Thanks again for a great tut

Very nice! I already saw something like that but lost the link somewhere...
So basically, you put the shading layer over the flat colors and use the color balance on it so it's not all desaturated? Or I'm totally wrong ? XD

Ahh... I never thought of doing the shading before the flats before... If I do that I may be able to focus more on shading in details and such like. Thanks for sharing!

Oh wow~! This is so helpful! I plan on following this tutorial step by step to improved my artwork. I really needed some help with coloring but no one I know could give me the proper advice, they could only teach me their style. I never really got a general idea. Thanks for the massive help! ^_^

Omar
I have a question about this if thats ok....
I do my shade layer like you showed, and then my flats, but then when i multifly my shade my flats look dirty?? Have you got any advice on this?? Like what percentage of grey i should use etc....??
Many Thanks
M

Omar-Dogan In reply to Monkeyleg [2008-10-20 05:11:14 +0000 UTC]
Stay 50% and lighter at first, it is easier to make it darker later on. Also before you colour tint the shade layer it is natural for the shades to look dirty over the flats.
