I'm having trouble with the lineart part about the masking. I have no idea how to do that select thing to keep the flat colors from going off.

this is amazing, and by far the best tutorial I have read for coloring digitally.
the lineart tips with masking and everything is brilliant; i've always wondered how to make my inked lines smoother on the computer.
the shading trick is amazing as well, i never would have thought of that.

When you finish shading in grey, select the skin tons on the flat layer and then go back to the shade layer. With that mask you can use colour balance to alter the hue of the shade layer.

Wow. This is a really well-made tutorial. I've never tried having a B/W shading level underneath my flat colors before. Usually, I shade on top. I'm really gonna have to try your way!

yes finally a good artist that can make a affective tutorial with out going into things like alpha-channels histogram balace light scales and other high end stuff and i definatly learnt somthing
also normally artist are normaly not nice and talk down but you show your normal but your great
you are the sort of artist i look upto and trust me there not many people i look upto
