understand me, I'm not one to make pairings cause "Omg they look so cute" Β I actually have a reason i put them together, I even had a story explaining how the pair worked via how they met, and why the became friends before ever looking at each other romantically.

Okay so assuming you've caught up with Shippuden, Gaara's the new Kazekage, and the Leaf village has sent out a team of ninja to deliver a special developed moss some botanists engineered that can actually grow in the driest of of conditions, so it would help the hidden sands chances of growing herbs for healing.
Hinata is part of said team, lead by Captain Yamato. Β Β She's dealing with the fact that naruto has apparently chosen Sakura over her.
Gaara on the other hand is still coming to terms with...knowing how to actually branch out to his people, or at least the ones that want to stop being afraid of him, how does he actually connect with them? Β
So he takes a walk to Lady Chiyo's grave and over hears a girl talking to the grave and saying "Naruto spoke of you in such high regard, you must have been quite a person. Sacrificing so much...I could never be that important..."
And the conversation he over hears impresses him that she have such a truthful heartfelt moment with the grave site, and speak about lady chiyo in such high regard.
He asks her if he knew her, and she of course blushing bows her head saying no "mr. Kazekage...sir!" Β And he asks to hear more about how she heard about her through Naruto, and how she knows Naruto in general.
And for the first time in his life, he actually has a conversation that he actually comes back from...enjoying, he didn't smile the entire time, but he didn't feel empty afterwards or like the experience was hollow.Β
