Description
This is a little (yet still large, byte-wise...) tutorial of how to make images using Apophysis 2.04beta using the Julia family of variations, primarily, but more generally, a flame similar to *Zueuk 's "Precious Julia"/Juliascope series stuff. It's not perfect, but it gets the point across. I have the distinct feeling that I'm forgetting something, though. Comments appreciated.Related content

Very nice tutorial. I follwed it, and managed to create some nifty effects by playing around with the transforms a bit more... I was wondering how people made such beautiful flames using just Julia(n|scope), and now I know . Thanks very much for sharing this...

I actually resolved to make this tutorial before I figured out how to make this effect. I had such trouble trying to figure it out, I felt that I needed to share the knowledge for the good of the world.
I also am an open-source software advocate. Go figure.

Ah... well... good on you . You've certainly helped me out, and hopefully others... I had played around with some transforms using the appropriate variations, but never delved into the variables for those variations, and hence probably couldn't have done this without your help
. I also didn't know about making the variation value higher than 1, putting the effect outside the radius of the blur transform... that should help in future flames, I'd imagine. Thanks again
.

i could not get it downloaded to my puter (nor desktop) however... comes up as a blank .bmp??? (but... 'download to desktop' makes it open as some kind of URL.jpg )
