Description Again, Photograph by Con Photographer Kelly Rowles and Costumes by yours truly.

These coque feather wings were created for my lovely fiancee and feature real daguerrotype photographs inset into the hand painted leather.

The Ladies' Bowler featured here is a hand made hat sculpted from a vintage velour fur felt hood with a brush of ostrich feathers and real turkey bones.

Do you mind sharing your feather source? I have a mask project that is going to need a rather large box of coques and I haven't found a seller I like yet.

Mmm...these feathers came from a trim shop in NYC, somewhere on 39th.

Wow! You must be so busy! Do you do commisions, or sell your costumes? This is fantastic. I would love to wear something like this.

Wired it how, if you don't mind my asking?

I joined wire to the edges of the inner structure with heavy duty thread. The same way that I would make a hat.

How'd you do them wings? I have to make some wings for my daughter this summer, and I am afraid of the little-girl-in-a-christmas-pageant effect.

I made a cardboard cutout of the rough wing shape, wired it, placed each feather and then sewed and rivited the leather parts together.

Oh my GOSH. This is absolutely, unbelievably, incredibly amazing. The wings! This must have taken you ages.

Thank you! They took about two days of construction. Each feather was positioned and secured by hand. The leather parts went fairly quickly though.
