Great timing! It might be challenging to shoot in the low light. I can see his head is slightly out of focus, but it's not too bad. Love the water spraying out from his melon, dorsal fin and his belly.

I forgot to change my meter from the lunar eclipse and shot spot all day, so the focus was not on his rostrum but on his side white markings. The shallow depth of field hurts when you make a silly mistake like that ...

I can see why you would have a problem! With spot metering your camera would be over-exposing/using a slower shutter speed because of the black orca. Not good! A faster shutter speed would have definitely helped here. But there is always next time!

WOW, I love this photo! You can see his spots perfectly, and he looks so glossy! It's almost like he was cast from ceramic. The only thing that would have made this photo absolutely perfect is the lighting; it's really good here, but I think the effect would've been better if there hadn't been so much cloud cover. Still, that really isn't something you can control, and the photo turned out fantastic, anyway!
