Description This is probably the view first years have when approaching Hogwarts from the lake with Hagrid.

Hogwarts castle at Islands of Adventure's Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort. Forced perspective makes the castle appear larger from a distance.

Hogwarts houses the "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey" dark ride, probably the BEST ride ever created.

Taken opening weekend, June 21st, 2010.

Minor touch-up in PS7.

LOVE IT!
I managed to go here too, went to Orlando on a two week holiday and just got back last week. xD
They had early openings for WWOHP so I managed to get in there a few days early and it wasn't too busy, Opening Day was hell though. >_> Went a couple of times after Opening Day too and it wasn't too busy then, especially if you went at 5/6pm. Forbidden Journey ride was awesome I agree, though I nearly cried when the Dementors got me. xD
But, yes, awesome picture.

I went the Monday following opening day, about 3 days later. It was beyond insanely crowded, so I'm glad I have an annual pass to go back when there are less people so I can really appreciate everything there.

Thanks!

I have so many pictures of the castle on my camera but it never gets old! I love this picture! And that ride. I have to admit. I screamed bloody murder when the Dementors reached for me.

Just wondering, was it still busy on June 21st? Like huge lines, really cramped in Hogsmeade? Because the 18th was a nightmare... well worth it, but still a nightmare of lines

did you managed to get there before noon?

Well... we got there at 5ish in the morning... and waited in a line for 6 hours just to get into the Harry Potter section. It was crowded all day. When we left at 8:30, there were still people waiting to get in.

Ah your lucky. Like, we never got into Honeydukes, or Zonkos, or even Ollivanders. ):

oh it wasn't much better for me.
i barely managed to get into honeydukes, zonko, 2 hours in line....

and ollivanders? the lines was across the entire street. so no way in.

so we got there at 12, stayed till around 3. *barely managed to eat in the 3 broomsticks but was worth it* and then left at 3:30.

i did managed to go once into the forbidden journey. so it was worth the day at least.

fortunately i with family went back next tuesday and the line was sOOOOO much shorter. we managed to do everything.

did you managed to go there a second time? or did you chose to wait till like september?

That's how it was for us! A 2 hour wait for Davish and Berks and you could hardly look at anything. Filch's was definately one of the better shops I think. How was Honeydukes and Zonko?

That's how the Butterbeer line was. Oh please say you got to taste that wonderful drink! It was definately better Frozen. The 3 Broomsticks was good food. Forbidden Journey is worth the trip by itself. haha. Takes a ride to a whole new level.

Oh no. ): We were on vacation and left the next day for North Carolina. It was lucky that we were in Florida during the opening. I begged my parents to let us go to Orlando for it. haha. I won't be going back until next summer, or until Senior Trip. ):

I loved honeydukes. my mouth watered just seeing all the sweets.

bought a chocolate frog. was surprised at how HUGE the thing was. i had to share it with my mom to be able to finish it.

Zonko was cool but i didn't understood half of what they were selling was, and what it did. (plus i didn't understood what the reason was to call it Zonko if it looked exactly like "Weasley wizard Wheezes" on the inside. )
i loved the pgymy puffs though. they were adorable. *managed to see one, went to look for my mother to show it to her, and it was gone. and they said they didn't had any more for the day. 0_0.

oh i got to taste both butterbeers. i quite liked it. even if was such a kick to my stomach afterward *the normal version* i liked both equally, but the frozen one was better consider the unbearable heat.

oh.
yeah I went for the same reason. didn't managed to see anything of the opening but... still had fun.

and your probably will have more fun next time. I asked one of the store clerks and she said she calculates it will calm down by october-november.

It was still incredibly busy on the 21st. Though, I did not wait quite as long to get into the area as was rumored on opening day. Took about 2 hours to get into the area, another 2 to ride Forbidden Journey, and I skipped the other two rides 'cause they're just re-named/re-themed on old rides. It was too hot and too crowded for me to justify waiting hours to just go into the shops, so I've saved those experiences for another time of year that is cooler and less crowded. I did wait the 45 minutes for Butterbeer--had the normal version, and while the actual drink was normal cream soda, I think the froth made it fantastic. Next time I'll try the frozen ... it's funny, everything I heard (even from the vendor) about the frozen version was that it wasn't as good. This was the whole reason why I got an annual pass!

I have! And it's incredible ... a definite must-see for any fan. I highly recommend waiting a while to go, though. Summer is NOT a good time of year to be in Central Florida, and the sheer popularity of it being both HP and a new attraction makes things miserable for experiencing the attraction as there are just too many people. I bought an annual pass this year knowing this would be the case, so I can go back as many times as needed to see it all. I did not manage to get into any of the shops, nor get very many other photographs because the crowds were too oppressive.
