Like all pure-blooded Saiyans that were born on Planet Vegeta, Renkon was sent off at a young age to purge planets. On his last mission before the destruction of Planet Vegeta (Renkon was around 4 or so at the time) the inhabitants of the Planet had already learned of the Saiyans and their abilities, and promptly destroyed their moon. He still managed to complete the mission, but of course had a much harder time without the Oozaru Transformation, hence the scar. (Ironically despite almost losing his life, the time he spent fighting and then recovering afterwards on the planet was the only reason he survived the destruction of his homeworld)
