Wow. Thank you so much for your kind words!
Actually, I was surprised myself of the outcome of this picture- it was supposed to be rather a fast scribble in the beginning and somehow I managed to draw something like that

Of course! ^^ I felt so happy to see this. I'm glad to have seen your gallery develop from the beginning. Sometimes the best pictures develop from scribbles : )

This is really beautiful~
I'm caught especially by the detail of the grass and the light in the water. I like your choice of colours ^_^

Thanks!
I make it almost even more colorful than it is now- I planned to draw a red sky, but it just didn't work with the rest of the picture

0_0 wow, what a magical landscape! a dream-scape if you will! I'm very impressed, and I actually like the "out shined" look, it complements with the magical atmosphere, the rays of light work well with the scene, well done indeed! can't wait to see the finished one!

Well, I guess there's a first time for everything. I'm sure it won't be the last time anyone tells you that!
Yes, practicing makes such a difference... I'm bad at taking the time to practice though. XD I won't be able to do anything like this for a very very very (very) long time...

That's probably true
Hehe, some improvments come rather fast sometimes- I startedd with digital art only two years ago Well, but I really don't want to know how many hours I spent in front of my computer, drawing something- the number must be big..

Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-05 18:34:31 +0000 UTC]
Wow, then you've come a very long way in two months. O.O How often do you draw? Even if you don't know how many hours you've drawn for. XD
Oh, and do you happen to have an instant messenger program? MSN or ICQ or something like that?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-05 18:51:31 +0000 UTC]
Years- not months.. two months are far too short for learning much about digital art (although there are also people that have an amazing progress over such a short time period- but usually they had also more experience in traditionally art before they started with digital art..)
Err. that's very difficult to say- there are times where I seem to draw every free second and there are times when I do more other things (like gaming for example).. but I draw at least once every week
Yeah, I have MSN and ICQ! My MSN adress is orm.irian@yahoo.de

Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-05 19:00:34 +0000 UTC]
Er, right, I was thinking years but my hands typed months. *glares at them*
I wish I was the kind of person who could draw all the time. XD But it's so easy to do other stuff instead! Right now, though, I have a goal to draw one drawing (traditional) every day... been doing it for about a week. I don't know how long I'll be able to keep it up, but hopefully for a long time! XD
I have both too (er, obviously... XD) though I prefer to use MSN. Mine is Zeimyth@hotmail.com.

OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-05 19:12:46 +0000 UTC]
At first, I thought I had accidently written month instead of year!
Sometimes I write instead of 'you' suddenly 'I', without any reason^^ That's kinda strange
Heh, I wasn't like that all the time! I always liked to draw details and stuff, but I never draw more than a few hours on one picture.. Now I can sometimes even spent around 50 (but that's actually quite hard and I never liked the outcome much). There is a point in drawing, when you suddenly miss something, when you don't draw.. But you have to be also in the mood for drawing- right now I'm not that motivated to draw something (nor was I like that since about some month now), but I just draw anyway- I really, really want to get better
One drawing for one week sounds good- Hehe, I tried to do that too, but I just didn't manage it anymore, because I need now longer for one picture
Hehe, I kinda use both at the same time, so it doesn't really matter for me

Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-05 19:25:04 +0000 UTC]
Well, usually when you mix up words like that, it's easy to tell what was meant. Luckily.
If I'm really working on a drawing, I put a loooot of time into it. >.< I have one I'm working on now that might have 80 or more hours, and it's still not done. Part of why I want to draw a new drawing every day is to help me get faster. I'm so slow at drawing right now.
Well, I added you on MSN. I could add you on ICQ if you wanted too. XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-05 19:54:16 +0000 UTC]
Yeah
Well, there is nothing bad with a slow drawing- but I know how it feels.. You spent so much time on one piece and it just don't look like you have done so.. that's frustrating The weekly drawing will definitaly help you little bit to get faster- to more you draw the faster you will get.
Uh no... that would confuse me if you also add me in ICQ
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-05 23:17:35 +0000 UTC]
Yes, it's very frustrating. >.< And then I see other people who do better than me and draw so much faster than me.
I have a bad habit of comparing my art to others'. >_>
Hehe, then just MSN, I guess! XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-06 09:55:03 +0000 UTC]
Well, I have that problem too.. There are artists around who draw something in one hour and it looks much better than my 25 hours work >.< But compared to my drawing speed a few years ago, I have become much faster.. Most of my recent pictures would have take my a-g-e-s one or two years ago
I have also that bad habit- but hey, it also has it's good side: Better artists show me that I still have much to learn and still need to improve much.. It's motivating on it's own way.
Yeah..
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-06 15:21:54 +0000 UTC]
That gives me hope, then. It's good to know that it is possible to become faster. XD
Yes, that kind of thing does have a good side... But sometimes I do it way too much. It's just so hard to not look at art and wish that you were as good as that artist. XD But I hate feeling that way.

I know- I sometimes feel like that too

OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-06 19:25:54 +0000 UTC]
Oh my..! And still all of your lines looks so well done and smooth?
Well, now I know where you can save a lot of time! That's why my first digital drawings all took sooooo long- because it's difficult as hell to draw anything digitally with a mouse..
I really, really highly recommend you to buy a tablet- you will need some time to get used to it, but after that, your speed in drawing will increase! It doesn't have to be a really expensive one for the beginning- just make sure that it has a pressure sensor.. I started with a Volito2 from Wacom, now I have a Bamboo Fun, both are good for drawing (well, volito2 not really, because it was made originally for writing stuff, but it wasn't that bad for beginning )

Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-06 19:33:31 +0000 UTC]
I really don't like drawing with a mouse... I kind of cheat by drawing it by hand first and then scanning the picture and making it digital from there. I have never created a picture without using pencil first. XD
Believe me, I want a tablet! I'd buy one if I could, but I'm in college and can't really afford one right now. Maybe soon, though. I might start on a Bamboo Fun tablet, though I think if I was going to buy one I'd want to buy a really nice one.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-07 12:34:48 +0000 UTC]
That's surely not cheating- I drawing some things still by hand and scan it- because it's sometimes easier. I do know more sketches directly on the computer, but it took me a long time to do some acceptables sketches digitally Still, I know it from my first digital pictures- even if you have done the sketch by hand it's enormous difficult and time consuming to color it digitally
But still.. my outlines kinda looked horrible when I did the coloring digitally, I'm really amazed by your smooth and clear outlines!
Hey, I still have a Bamboo Fun- it's a really awesome tablet!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-07 17:58:46 +0000 UTC]
I guess drawing by hand will always be a little easier, because you just have that slight bit of control that a computer will never have.
I've never colored traditionally, so I can't compare it to coloring digitally. Heh, for that matter, I don't think that what I do counts as coloring digitally either. I really have to fake my way through the whole process.
My lines are only smooth and clear because of the pen tool (in GIMP... I don't know what it's called in photoshop). It's the only reason I haven't given up on drawing with the mouse altogether. >.< But it does have some nice results, I guess...
My cousin has an Intuous 3, and I've gotten to try it a few times. I've never used any others though, so I can't compare. XD

OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-08 12:50:32 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that's true
That's strange- why didn't you try to color traditionally something? That would be a great training too! Hmm, well, I don't know how you color your pictures, but I can't think of any 'cheat' to get your pictures colored
Hehe, I never had the chance to try out something more expensive than a Bamboo Fun, so I can't compare them either.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-08 15:59:12 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, I don't know. I guess I've never had the means to. The only traditional coloring tools I've ever had were cheap crayola markers or colored pencils... I'd want to have higher-quality tools than that, I guess. Plus, there's the little matter of being able to erase a normal pencil but not a colored pencil... >_> So I've just never gotten around to trying it.
Well, I consider my way to be cheating, at least... XD
I'm sure the difference isn't huge, but there is a difference... Supposedly. XD

OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-08 16:32:51 +0000 UTC]
Aww.. I tried to reach realism with colored pencils (when I didn't even know that there is something like digital art ).. Well, of course I didn't manage it, but I learned much about highlighting and shading stuff- I would have learnt that too in digital art after a while, though. Well, it doesn't really matter I guess.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-08 16:51:55 +0000 UTC]
I would like to be able to draw traditionally... But it's a lot harder, in my opinion, to get it to look good. But there's some artist out there who do a fantastic job at traditional art. It just costs too much money, though, I think... XD Cause you have to pay for the supplies, and they don't last forever.
Of course, digital art costs money too if you buy a tablet and the programs, but in my mind that's a better investment. And digital art is more flexible...
I guess I just don't know where to start to do traditional coloring. XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-08 17:02:41 +0000 UTC]
Maybe- I guess it's 'just' training, like the coloring in digital art too. If you just use colored pencils, it isn't even very expensive- and you actually can reach realism with colored pencils!
Hehe, I just love digital art by now- I never really liked traditional art that much.. But I wouldn't say digital art is easier! It's just ..different.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-08 17:18:51 +0000 UTC]
The one advantage of traditional art over digital is that you don't need a computer in order to draw. XD But how often does that happen?
You definitely can do some very realistic art with colored pencils. I just... don't know how. XD Hmm, this is really making me want to try some traditional coloring.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-08 17:52:12 +0000 UTC]
Well, there are other advantages too- like you have more control over what you actually draw (better feeling), you don't have to zoom in and out the whole time, drawing some things might be easier (like hair for example )... and you have your result in front of you! That's what I miss most in digital art- it's just digital, if you want to hold it in your hands, you have to print it out- which is quite expensive
No, I can't (my pictures were always far too bright and mostover had no or just a bad background) Well, I kinda given up traditional art, because it didn't really fit for me
Well, I would try it at least- there can't go anything wrong
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-08 20:50:15 +0000 UTC]
Yeah... I guess it really is just a matter of preference, huh? There's plenty of advantages to both...
I wish I could do both. XD But right now I kind of feel like I can't do either.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-09 14:29:35 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it is
Well, I focus myself on digital art- I guess I getting better in traditional art too at the same time (in some things), but I will be always better in digital art probably
Aww, I wouldn't say that! With some training (and a tablet!), you will get better- you have to believe in your skills!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-09 14:52:28 +0000 UTC]
Hee, and that certainly works well for you, because your digital art looks wonderful.
Unfortunately, at this point, I'm not likely to get a tablet for a long time. XD I'm kind of stuck until I do, because I really can't do much with digital art with just my mouse, and I haven't made the investment to get myself good traditional supplies... XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-09 15:11:12 +0000 UTC]
Aww, thanks!
You could try to find a used tablet for you- artists mostly sell them at a low prize, if they bought a new one for themselves- you won't have the best tablet this way, but it's better than mouse anyway- any tablet is better than a mouse! I would say the prize for a used tablet can be even under 30$ sometimes
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-09 15:22:41 +0000 UTC]
Hmm... Yes, I suppose so. Never thought about doing that. 30$ seems rather cheap for a tablet, though. Even a used one. XD I guess I'll have to think about it...
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
OrmIrian In reply to Zeimyth [2009-11-09 15:32:11 +0000 UTC]
Well, you have to be lucky to find a cheap tablet that is still in good condition- but I just wanted to say: Not every tablet has to cost many hundreds dollars! My Volito2 was also rather a cheap one- and still it was good enough for me

Zeimyth In reply to OrmIrian [2009-11-09 15:44:17 +0000 UTC]
