Description The dodecahedron is one of the two complex shapes out of the five Platonic solids. It generally has 12 faces ,all of which are pentagons. The manifestation here is in it's SPHERICAL GEOMETRY and again inspired by the Neolithic carved stone balls from Scotland.
Those interested in Sacred Geometry are generally instructed to begin their study by making models of the five Platonic solids. There is a way of perceiving the spatial relations and corresponding sublime proportions embedded in the act of making the models which is largely unmitigated by the intellect.
I have coined the phrase "visceral knowledge"to describe this phenomena. There are so many intuitive epiphanies regarding correspondences within these shapes that occur naturally as the knowledge and understanding deepen. One begins to see these relationships in the Natural World as the defining elements of structure and proportion seep in. I believe the ancients knew ,and or "designed" the learning to be able to take place in this almost subliminal way.

When I was at SCIArch, the student workspaces were arranged as rhombic dodecahedrons and working in them was very cool. This is a great piece! Has a nicely organic feel to it.

These are beautiful shapes, and an interesting are of study. Somehow I don't think it would be nearly the same done in wire.... I need to learn real metalwork.
