Why did you chose this vantage-point and orientation of the mask. Why a black background?

In all honesty, I don't know. I took this photo that long ago, I don't really remember taking it.
I darkened the background because I thought it accentuated the mask. Adding to the concept that wearing, or wanting, a mask holds.
