I believe that's because of the title "Red Baron".

The composition's awesome, the landscape spectacular (look at that horizon!) and of course, it's the Red Baron. The Red makes everything stand out. Also lends to the story telling- Even if you did not know anything about aviation, 3 against one let's you know this guy is infamous.
