Description
In this tutorial I show my old node setups in Cycles, including old renders and updated versions of those renders now using the Principled BSDF node. The preview image shows a good example. The characters with the dull looking armour use the old nodes and the ones with armour that looks more metal like is the new Principled BSDF node setup.Companion Tutorial to this Using Blender Cycles to Render . That shows how to set up the models and then the node setup that I used to use.

This is great. Only skimmed through it so far, but been having some issues with really dull looking eyes with the principle shader. So this will definitely help me play around with the nodes. Thank you so much for putting this comprehensive tutorial together. You're awesome!

It really depends on the angle of the light with the eyes and the Principled node. As at times I got really dull looking eyes with it too.
Thanks

I got the biggest grin reading this comment, to the point my mum asked what I was looking at. So thank you for that. It really improved my day reading it.
You are more than welcome.

I'm glad to hear it.
I just know that Blender was SO intimidating to me at the start and your tutorials gave me the stuff I needed to get into it and now it's one of my main hobbies and I'm doing a lot of fun stuff (well, to me anyway) with it. I really appreciate all the cool stuff you do.
