"Illumination issues" doesn't explain why the lighting that you say is making her skin look lighter doesn't affect her clothing. The lighting in the picture also doesn't look particularly bright to me, more an overcast day than direct sunlight. If bright lighting is what you were going for, I'm afraid you didn't quite nail it, but practice makes perfect. Good luck with that.
