He did cry over Tiger's death, though, and I figured a single quiet moment of pain wouldn't be too out of character for him. Maybe when he was jailed for the first time?

arlong lost his older brother to them
and yet, both showed some level of compassion towards at least one human
Tiger had treated Koala compassionately & brought her back to the family she was taken from
Arlong treated Nami the same way he knew Koala was at her happiest. Β He was still a jackass, but he at least tried & he cared about her the same way he cared about his fellow crewmates
Hody just wanted to wipe out all humans & didn't care about his fellow fishmen. Β he even used them as shields

I'm thinking Arlong is the first villain we've seen actually crying over somebody's death.

I really liked that about him. Too many complete sociopaths in the villain roster can get pretty... samey after a while
