I would like to say something about this particular deviation as it immediately caught my eye, when I saw it...
The framing of the shot looks good and the composition is extremely attractive which invites one to actually go down hat little path in the woods...
I think the author is correct in saying that if the sun was indeed shining some more colour would come into this shot and therefore a lot more could be done with it..
without that this may to some not look as inviting as it does to my eye.
I think the techniques used for shooting here were good and the result extremely appealing..
I would encourage you to try a shot when the lighting is indeed different....

Both of you, it was a raw file and it looked very different before I tried my best but I couldn't make it much better than this!

Good points - but the sun is (as you know) unpredicatble - so taking a number of different exposures or a RAW file and then working on them may do the trick... but the baisic point has been well made - This is a well framed and composed shot which catches the eye... the rest is "window dressing"....

Very beautiful little neck of the woods! I have to agree with Tigles1Artistry's critique above that seeing this path again in different lighting conditions would be nice; but please don't delete this original pic either. The beauty of a landscape is capturing its many moods in different weather and times of day.
