Description
So, out on my deck for the 4th of July, this was the real show--aside from great fireworks (the random red blurry dots in the distance at the bottom) we had the most incredible lightning and thunder storm all night!!!! I loved it, and managed to get lucky by capturing this shot.Electrifying I tell you--the whole night felt the sky being a pyro-things blowing up and lightning everywhere!!!

AHH i am jealous!! I stood outside for 2 hours with my tripod and somehow never managed to get a clear shot of the lightning. Of course this was at 2am by the time we got home from our drive from monroe.
And for anyone else reading this: I'll tell when she said "we had the most incredible lightning and thunder storm all night!!!!" We is the whole entire state of Washington!
I started in Monroe for a drag race and firework show which pretty much got cancelled because of the thunderstorm. Then the whole way home to the center of the state there was lightning. Another friend was up at grand coulee dam and the same thing up there.
Anyway the storm died down (was real distant) at about 2am-4am. Which was just when I got out of the car at home. I waited up for 2 hours before going to sleep, then in the morning I heard everyone talking about how we got hit hard again at 5am with an even huger storm. And all's I wanted was a shot of some lightning!!!
so thanks for reminding me... lol j/k
(oh you should set the clock on your cam to the right date)

Haha, I KNOW!! Every time I upload my pics, I'm like, "Patricia, set the date right, once and for all!!" And then, I forget.
ANyway, yes, the whole state got quite the show...I'm sorry you weren't able to capture the awesomeness that it was! Mine isn't even that good...it looks small because of all the sky around it, but at the same time the sky was pretty, so it's cool! Quite a story you have though, you storm-chaser you!!!!
Sorry for the reminder.... but thanks for the comment!!!!

I love lightning shots and they are hard to capture, so props to ya. We don't get enough of them around here for me to set up my camera to take some long exposure shots in hopes of getting one. But nice job on the capture and on getting those gorgeous colors out of the sky!

Thanks!! I know, so hard to capture...it was just so weird that night because it was such a big storm that they were almost consistent, and so I could practically count 1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000 and BAM! Lightning would strike on cue!! but still, even with this highly technological system, this is the only good shot I got of it...hehe

Hey whatever works to get the shot, even if its sometimes a little luck. If they were that consistent, maybe next time try a like 2-4 sec exposure and see of its easier to capture, just a thought. Still good job though.
