I wonder if that's ever been a real issue for any women in the military.

Well I am under the impression that some women do have problems with currently issued body armor. I've been told some even go as far as having breast reduction operations to go around the issue.
The US Army is currently working or will field shortly a new Ballistic Vest designed for woman: www.army.mil/article/87464/
Now that woman are to be integrated into combat units in the US Military, the need for new female oriented armor may have been enough to warrant the development.
However as you can see in the article above, they dont seem as suggestive as the other alternatives I've drawn. Much to my own chagrin

quite the opposite actually, women want more fitting vests since the vests right now (being made to fit male proportions) are usually too big, too loose, of just too unwieldy, the vests don't move well with them.Β
